While on the SRR thread that Daxx did I started thinking about documentaries.... So my question is which is your fav. documentary?
Try to list ONLY 3.


For me in this order:

1. Ring Of Fire:Emile Griffith - Both great & tragic what a great doc. this was as it lead you to the Paret fights.
2. Unforgivable Blackness:Jack Johnson - Some great rare footage in this one. Jack was a funny but malicious man IMO.
3. Roberto Duran: Beyond The Glory - One of my fav. all time fighters really enjoyed this one and great insight on Duran.

Bazooka: The Battles Of Wilfredo Gomez: Saw this once and it was outstanding. Can't seem to find it anywhere
The Rules Of The Ring: Looks at Dempsey, Tyson and John L. Sullivan

You and me both man saw this shit! on Showtime Tivo'd it and my little bro. deleted it. Only saw it once as I was recording it. A few days later my little bro. was over my house playing in my game room and wanted to record 'The Lost Episodes: SpongeBob Squarepants" and deleted the 1st item. Unforgiviable Blackness was one of the best documentaries I have ever seen...be it on boxing or anything else....It showed exactly how hard it was for Jack to be champion...also showed at times his pride was his own worst enemy

Unforgivable Blackness is probably the best boxing BOOK ever written. It is a must read for any boxing fan.

Something that always makes me laugh when I think about that Doc.
Is the part where they show Jack driving down a street and a cop pulled him over. The cop writes him a ticket for $50 dlls. (You gotta think this was like 1909) or something like that so 50 dlls. was a lot.... Well anyways Jack pulls out a chunk of rolled up bills from his pocket and hands the cop $100 dlls. the cop says to Jack the tickets for $50 and Jack tells the cop I know it's because I plan on driving back down this same street coming back.

I know $50!!!!! thats what a ticket runs sometimes today without court fees.....But thats what I mean about Jack just did not know when to stop lol...the 100 was priceless though...Jack was a character...

I never knew all those things about Jack and all the trouble he'd had.
Getting into street fights all the time, and trying to survive day by day.
What was crazy also was how they would build arenas/venues for particular fights. Really great doc. all in all.
