The Moore fight falls into the category of what might have been. What might have happened if Duran hadn't thumbed Moore's eye closed early on? Moore was no slouch.

The eye was closed since the early rounds. It was a significant handicap. Moore never had a chance. Looking back, I'm surprised they let the fight continue as long as they did. The significance of the victory was overstated.

As for the thumb being speculation, well it was entirely typical of a injury caused by a thumb, probably accidental. But it would be hard to prove a thumb caused it or not, I suppose.
