Some people are underestimating MMA because its full of talented guys, but others are questioning Mayweather which is ridiculous as somebody who also does kick-boxing and something similar to judo it wouldn't be hard for a guy like Floyd to learn this stuff well enough to be competitive with the top guys enough to not get pounded on the ground. Kicks will come easily for him because he has amazing balance and he always boxes on his point of balance and rotates off it with his punches the same way people do with their kicks. As for his hands, I think he'll be fine because it will take less punches to ko some of these guys. I think he wouldn't be fighting at lightweihgt, but at featherweight (145) which is comming over to the UFC next year along with Urijah whatever his last name which is one of hte best fighters in MMA. I don't think Mayweather would fight at 155 in this sport. People forget a lot of these guys who are at the top only started doing full mma as adults in their mid-20's and guys like Liddell who are technically terrible fighters do well, if Mayweather makes it hard to take him down, there is nobody who will be able to trade with him if he gets a good kick boxing coach which I am sure he would do.

wow.. i dont think this is true. floyd is a talented fighter but i dont think that a full contact fight is his style. sure he could box his way around a fight but most fights in the MMA are done on the ground. even tho taeth mentioned that floyd could learn how to fight MMA style, once the fight starts he will resort to his boxing style coz hes been used to that for all of his career being a boxer. as far as his defense, he better not use his shoulder roll to block high kicks or else his arms will fall of the socket.. good luck to him if this is indeed true

I think this will be more challenging than facing slow Baldomir-like Cotto (sure, Cotto is just a little bit faster than Baldomir).

I hope he does join the MMA and savor his loss, yummy

I totally agree. It's not like Floyd isn't going to train at any other aspect other than, dare I say "striking" (last time I said it MF's jumped on my ass) Also I believe he would win his first fight probably because the challenge would be hand picked. Floyd would probalby end up hating that sh!* though.

"Striking" is the gayest term used in sports. What the hell. Use the word punch. Oh wait. They can't punch and sure cant take a punch.

MMA and UFC is for all the losers that can't box.

Butterbean, Eric Esch beat the K1 kick boxing world champion in the 1st round. LMAO

Butterbean, Eric Esch would of smashed world champion Tengiz Tedoradze as well. The sports so crap he wasn't able to though.

Dam MMA and UFC is sooo crap i can't believe im even talking about it.

Those sports totally suck and are for poofs and queers!

The hand speed in mma is just such a level below top notch boxing. I'm not saying that if floyd was taken to the ground he wouldnt get owned, im just saying with his hand speed, defensive ability, and foot speed he would be very hard to take down. He would have to develop his all around game but I think he would dominate some fighters.

Well that's it really isn't it. If Mayweather get's taken to the floor he could lose.

My intrest would already of been lost as soon as i saw 2 grown men rolling around on the floor together.

As much as I would want to see Floyd getting his ass handed to him in a silver platter it would be quite interesting to see him on top of a guy punching his face to a pulp as it normally happens on MMA or UFC.

I hope he doesnt move to mma he will get embarrased, even with his hands as fast and good as he is he is at a disadvantage, sholder rolling just isnt a practical defens ein mma, he cant defend a thai clinch, youve got to look out for leg and head kicks, and the firs time he is easily taken and slammed to the ground its over, please stay in boxing, can he get decent in mma sure will he beat even half way decent fighters no way.

I am keeping my fingers crossed so he GOES TO MMA . I can imagine those MMA/UFC typical endings with Floyd's back on the floor while the other guy is sitting on top of him hitting his way to a TKO while Floyd is knocked unconcious. Wow! I can savor that right now! Hope it happens!

I am pretty sure he can make a good buck on this one as well. Imagine all the people that would want to check this out.

Why would Mayweather use the shoulder roll to defend himself in MMA? You would have to be stupid to think he would fight exactly the same way and into a MMA fight trying to fight the same way he boxes. Mayweather is very natural, I hear he picked up all his boxing very easily, and the same basics go for all martial arts including boxing. PUnches are nearly the same, kicks are similar to punches. The ground game can easily be taught to a competitive level. Obviously he would be able to compete with the division A wrestlers on the ground, but he can do enough to not let them do anything when it is on the ground, and he can adjust and beat them standing up. I still think he would have more trouble with not wearing shoes than anything.

it's funny, because i could actually see a well balanced and athletic fighter such as floyd dodging a lunging mma fighter then land a punch and fights over...simply because it's quite plausible that whoever he faces will be preoccupied with being hit that they'll probably just try to rush...

also imo i think its rather weak to call out boxer knowing they've never done that shit on that level...in boxing if floyd were to face matt hughes floyd wouldn't get any credit by anyone associated with boxing, but in mma if floyd lost to hughes, hughes would get all the credit as if he just beat a prime gracie..which imo shows how much of bottom feeders they are in that sport..but that just my opinion..
