Its a shame that people would treat a dog that way, especially mutilating a dogs tail or ears for looks... The owners are a major factor in any dogs attitude and behavior.There are bloodlines and cross breeding with the exact purpose of generating "behaviors" in some breeds.Pitts are a great breed ,as are Rott's,Chow's and Dobe's etc.It's how there raised up,almost like kids.Ive seen first hand down here with some wanna be thugs trainning them up for combat.Thay bait them with smaller breeds,rope them up tight,withhold food..etc.etc.some wicked shit goes on.
Alot of Breeds have the ears cropped,Schnauzers,Boxers,Yorkies,etc.Alot of clinics will not do the procedure so you get some idiots actually useing dry ice and tin snips to do it themselves.Really dont think it has much to do with temperment but as you said "for the look".We do some really dumb shit for our selves with the animal as an afterthought.Tail docks are done to ALOT of breeds but It has to be done as puppys.Personally I dont care for it.
