Default JC Chavez Jr. fighting Jose Celaya

Has it on boxrec, heard this somewhere else too.

Since Arum said Chavez' fights were all gonna be on PPV no reason to think this one won't.

Celaya's 31-2, don't let that fool you. He's pretty bad. I remember he used to work with Shane Mosley and Mosley's dad and he was being talked up by them, saw him on TV and thought damn, what was Shane Mosley talking about. Last time I saw him he was on ESPN being stopped by one of the clumsiest looking fighters I've ever seen, some dude named "Spider" Webb, can't remember his first name.

Chavez TKO is money in the bank.

I assume they'd beat a couple somewhat decent undercard fights, probably not Calderon again, but something decent. Still the main event seems like just a formality.

Before the James "Spider" Webb loss, Celaya looked really good. He's fast, a good boxer and has tons of talent. He is by far the best fighter Chavez Jr. has ever fought. It should be good, trust me.

Tons of talent? Seriously? I've seen him a few times, one time he beat some non descript guy and looked poor, the other two times he got KO'd and looked really poor.

Is Celaya still training with Manny Steward? Well, even if he isnt that great, he is a step up from Sanchez IMO. When is JCC gonna step up? This should be a cakewalk, he needs to up the competition. He's taking his sweet time I guess, he's still young but c'mon...can you say padded record?

Yes, seriously. When I watched him he put punches together very well, I was impressed.

I thought they were talking about bout Jr fighting Alfonso Gomez? surely that woulda been a better guide to how far chavez has come than this.

No they made so much money on the last PPV that they decided instead to keep fighting PPV's, I doubt they'll step up for a while since they can make so much fighting lesser known guys. Gomez would have been a far bigger step up, Celaya's not much of a threat at all.

Here's the only thing on youtube of him I could find, the guy in the white, I know nothing about the other guy, he's 9-11-2 and Celaya's fought him twice in the last three fights, won a UD and then a SD http://youtube.com/watch?v=BigTLz77EiM

Gomez would be risky enough at this stage, maybe at the end of 2008.
