    Default Race and boxing

Not an easy post to write, probably...I DO realise I will probably get some grief for posting this but...

Its maybe a bit more of an issue after what BHOP said to Calzaghe, the whole "white boy" thing..

The simple fact is, that white guys now....shit man I hope this dont sound rascist cos I just aint like that... predominately Russians are now taking over the heavyweight division..and pretty much most weights have good white lads fighting in it...more so today than recent years

Do You think its like Foreman said and its all about hunger?, a lot of these Rusiian lads grew up tough and had absolutely f*ck all comforts in life and they basically know what pain really is, and fighting aint that hard for them..

I really would be interested to know what you lads think.

This is still, like it or not a big issue in boxing. you just look at how many views this post gets..

I believe that no race rules as far as being genetically a better fighter. I believe that it's like Foreman said 'it's who is hungriest'.
I think it's great that all the current Heavyweight champions are White as it will spark interest in the White youths of today to train to fight in the future.

An exceptional athlete can come from any race or background. Boxing is not only about physical ability (although it is a huge help) it is predominantly about guile, skill and ring smarts.

Gerry Cooney got $10 million for boxing Larry Holmes and it had a lot to do with his skin colour.

A boxer is a boxer end of story.
i dont care if hes black - white - or otherwise.
i definatly dont wanna know his religous views in or out of the ring.
boxing is a sport between 2 people END OF STORY!!!!
as for the WHITEBOY comment , im white and personally dont find it offensive , because Hopkins opinionis irrelivant to wot he does in the ring , which is all im interested in.

You dont have to care about what colour they are.. But realy although sterio typical in most cases the steriotypes are just true..

But this is a loose theory if i have to call it that.. Not a statement

Such races as Latin and black fighters are over all better.. not because of the colour of theyr skin.. But

Alot of boxers of ethnic minorities dont have it so good growing up and yes it is about hunger.. Imo that is prob the main thing..

If you livedd your childhood in a big house, good food on the table and nice clothes then you are 'probably' not as hungry as someone who got hand me downs from theyr oldest brother out of five.. and ate microwave meals everynightt..

Lol.. Course thats not always the case.. some people just nurture skill and get great that way, some people had great lives but just loved boxing and devoted enough time to it..

But honestly.. Im not saying the whole world is racist but how many white people compared to other races do you know live in rough surroundings.. Lol..

Not in england mind you.. Its not the same type of mixed race country as america is and wouldnt really compare in the same manner..Lol

    Peace

BHB made good points but of course there are some incredible exceptions. Marco Antonio Barrera, Roy Jones Jr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Calvin Brock Juan Diaz Muhammad Ali too had a decent upbringing.

    Lol Cheers dude..

But some of those guys fall in to the commitment and love for boxing section

Whereas some fighters fight hard and are warriors because they want it that much..

Some such as roy jr and floyd jr are brought up as fighters by nearly men fathers who love the sport and want to live out theyr perfect career though theyr sons.. and thats the safer way to be brought up.. if they love the sport and are taught to fight very well and fight with skill instead of hunger and heart it can work to an advantage

happens all the time in boxing..

And barrera.. is just something special, that i put down to love of the sport and practice..

he is very smart.. trained as a lawyer when he was young.. and yet chose a life of boxing and war over bieng a lawyer.. Thats just dedication and it payed off and shows in barrera
