Actually though most of Ali's fights were quite boring, except for the Frazier fights and a few other's most of them were boring, did you ever see Young vs Ali ?? that was a snoozefest but it was a snoozefest Young deserved to win.

I think Ali done a lot for the sport, but he did get slightly overrated for his antics outside the ring.

I did see that yes, in fact I've seen all of Ali's fights apart from the Berbick fight and three others.
I feel the "boring" fights were largely in the second part of his career where his faded physical abilities forced him to use his brain moree. In doing so he killed the action and set a dull pace which his body could cope with.
Thats exactly the type of boxing I enjoy though- boxing with thought behind it.

The Forerman fight could have been viewed as boring, but the hype made it scintilating (and the result also) The fights with Norton Wepner Williams and Quarry were all pleasing for the spectator.

I actually think Ali vs Foreman is a very overrated fight, i thought it was a snoozefest. And Foreman was just swinging punches like a drunk monkey with no real power because there was no snap to the punches, and Ali would throw a few punches back at him in spurts i didn't enjoy the fight at all.

What people forget about George Foreman and his early career is that his confidence in his power and brute strength was so great that he neglected the implementation of boxing skill and intelligent fighting. There was never any real snap to George's punches, (which lays testament to the brute strength of the man) but in Zaire he was probably affected by the heat and tactics of Ali.

Foreman was so effective as I've said because of brute strength. Opponents were intimidated by him (even Frazier) and as aresult tried to move away to box him. This put them in range and George subsequently Ko'ed them. However, Ali didn't move back, drew Foreman in close and as such negated Foreman's hardest punches. It has often been bosted of how Foreman's jab simply bleew guys away, how many jabs happened in Kinshasa In close Foreman was sloppy and exposed as such. Ali merely knocked over an exhausted man at the end. Thats smart boxing! And for me essential viewing.

George Foreman had only boxed for one year when he won Gold in the Olympics

I thought it was boring too. But Ali was winding poor George up so much he was fighting like an idiot just wanting to KO Ali. You can't fight right when your pissed off. Great tactics from Ali but the fight was not all that I agree.
