Not necessarily. Some fighters do it more impressively than others. Although Larry's jab was amongst the most effective of all times it wasn't as exciting as Ali, as punishing as Louis' or as bloody minded as Marciano. It is natural that the fight fans and public prefer the more exciting fighter.
Actually though most of Ali's fights were quite boring, except for the Frazier fights and a few other's most of them were boring, did you ever see Young vs Ali ?? that was a snoozefest but it was a snoozefest Young deserved to win.
I think Ali done a lot for the sport, but he did get slightly overrated for his antics outside the ring.
I did see that yes, in fact I've seen all of Ali's fights apart from the Berbick fight and three others.
I feel the "boring" fights were largely in the second part of his career where his faded physical abilities forced him to use his brain moree. In doing so he killed the action and set a dull pace which his body could cope with.
Thats exactly the type of boxing I enjoy though- boxing with thought behind it.
The Forerman fight could have been viewed as boring, but the hype made it scintilating (and the result also) The fights with Norton Wepner Williams and Quarry were all pleasing for the spectator.
