He effectively fought abroad a dozen times before he fought Eubank for the world title. He faced an English crowd and their gentle behaviour a dozen times which is like Hopkins fighting a dozen times in Mexico before he fought for the world title. Since then he defended his title abroad twice, once in Germany, and there's a history of violence there too.

Joe's fans are going to outnumber Bernard's like Ricky's did Floyd's. British fans sing too and there'll be a band over there as well, so it's going to be a British football ground atmosphere. Hopkins is just taking the fight for the biggest-possible final payday.
Did it help Ricky?
Did it hurt him?
Well he lost his 0, was obviously upset and put of his gameplan, and got KTFO. I'd say it didnt have a positive effect on him.
Whether it had a positive efect or not, it certainly didn't have a negative effect. He didn't walk into the arena to be confronted by thousands of rabid Mayweather fans. But you're changing the subject again. You were originally asking (at the start of this very post) whether Joe fighting in Vegas would have a negative effect.
No way Calzaghe will have as many fans as Hatton had come to the US to see him fight.
