I was thinking about this today. Hopkins was undisputed #1 P4P with Floyd a solid #2. Then when he lost to JT, Floyd took over the #1 spot. Well since then B-Hop retired and then came back, moved up two weight classes and annihilated the recognized light heavyweight champ at the time (Tarver) and beat up a perennial Top 5 P4P (Winky Wright, albeit Winky was way out of his weight class). If B-Hop actually defeats JoeCal, who most have in their Top 3 P4P, and Floyd Mayweather stays inactive for a year, could a 43 year old Hopkins actually make a case for P4P #1?

I could see a case for Calzaghe being number 1 if he destroys BHOP and FLoyd sdtays inactive. If FLoyd fights even once in 2008 tho and doesnt lose he'll continue to be P4P number 1.

Only if Pac-Marquez is a bad fight where both guys look lackluster (and what are the chances of that?).
The Pac-Marquez winner will be the clear-cut "Best fighter PFP not named Floyd Mayweather", IMO.

Good point. If pac is number 2 and beats JMM it certainly wont harm his ranking on the P4P list, similiar for JMM.

The way the top of the P4P list is it's really a tough call.

I mean PBF is a concrete stand at #1 and only loosing or inactivity will hurt him. IMO chances are the inactvity will come 1st.

I agree with SweetPea that the winner of JMM-Pac will have more of a case at shifting around with PBF. If Hopkins wins that IMO earns him a solid spot at #3.

What wil piss me off is when Calzaghe whups Hopkins ass and The Ring magazine will still only put him at 5th or something ridiculous like that

Calzaghe would need to move up and KO Klitscho to get any recognition stateside.

YES. I actually felt that Bernard should have been made P4P #1 after dominating Antonio Tarver in such a fashion.

hmmm good question. To be honest i never even looked at this fight as one that BHOP could win....i dont even know why just seemed pretty sure JC would win clearly. However, if BHOP wins this against a unbeaten boxer that is in such good form JC is...you HAVE to consider him right up there it would be one of the biggest victories for a long time when you consider his age.

I'm with Mick. Hopkins moves to number 3 when he beats Calzaghe

Cuz he a better fighter. There's a diffrence from being a very good fighter (which Calzaghe punk ass is) and being a great fighter (which Hopkins is).
