I think we are on seperate pages here, I am in no way comparing the magnitude of this fight to Floyd-Hatton, I am not even saying that this fight is relevant to the boxing scene right now, but if you are going to promote a fight you must do it properly. I don't know how you can say that countdown was OK, they gave us nothing at all. It was a basic rundown of the past couple fights of each fighter (Which we have seen), and each fighters career highlights (Which we already know), this is a complete waste of time and does not add any interest too the fight. On top of that I could care less about Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant's opinions, there are people who know their boxing just as good as those guy's that post on this web-forum, but they had columnist that I have never even heard of giving us opinions on the fight (Who gives a rats a**), they had a couple of clips where fans on the street of San Juan were telling the camera's how sturdy Trinidads hand shake was and that it would lead to a hard knockout, it was a complete waste Bilbo. They gave us a basic interview of each fighter and there were really know interesting questions asked, just basic one's nobody wanted to hear.

OK your opinion is we don't need a 24/7 for alot of fights, fair enough. But give us a relevant show. How about a thirty minute interview where one fighter get's the first 15 minutes and the other fighter get's the second half, each can be asked up close and personal questions ( Which Larry Merchant loves to do) and we can get insight on what's going on. How about the interview be joint and both fighters can be there (like showtime did with Vargas and Mayorga), we can really then learn why this crappy fight was made with real questions, " Tito why would you jump 10 pounds to fight this guy when there are at least another 10 fights you could have took that were better?" " Roy why are you still fighting, and why would you jump down to 170 when you had a hard enough time making 175 and getting your a** beat by Tarver?" I don't want to hear " I feel great at this weight" every fighter say's they feel great before the fight, I have never heard anything otherwise. I don't want to hear " He is a legend", there are other legends you can fight out there. Sorry the show was a complete waste to me and it had nothing to do with the fighters being washed up.

My impression is that HBO know this is a barely relevant fight that they won't make much money on so they didn't want to waste time or expense on making much more than a formulaic documentary.

As for interviewing Lampley and Merchant I see nothing wrong in that whatsoever. This is HBO documentary for a HBO PPV fight that will be commentated on by HBO commentators, Lampley, Merchant et al.

It makes sense that they would interview their own commentary team considering they are the guys who are going to bring us the event.

They did have some interviews with Roy Jones, and a couple bits with Tito but as Tito can't or won't speak English he's kind of hard to interview.

It was an ok show covering a mediocre and ultimately pointless fight. I guess even HBO themselves can't get up for this one.
