    ok I'm biting

It was Johny Lewis that quit not Kostya, just like it was Jeff Fenech that quit on Hussy. Sometimes the corner saves the fighter from themselves. :P
Kostya admitted he had given up, because he realised that there was no way he could win. And he didn't contest anything he just hung his head low while drinking water. Kostya QUIT on his stool.. his corner just said something he didn't because he was drinking water Kostya QUIT. Now Zab has been knocked out, but he has never quit. He went out and got knocked out by Tszyu. He went out and got put on queer street by Baldomir, but Zab never ever quit on his stool. Kostya quit. Like I said apparently Judah couldn't teach Kostya how not to quit Kostya quit at the end of that round when he realised there was no chance. Probably best that he quit though, because it's better he stop fighting early instead of too late.

Shouldn't have quit unless he was hurt, but the man is 3 times the fighter Judah is.

I'm just tired of wondering what's going to happen to him. I'd like some answers.

didn't you guyz see kostya after the fight, he looked like he got run over by a car. I believe nothing is more important than a fighter's safety and if the fighter himself is fearful that he is going to get hurt in a fight I see there is no shame in pulling out. Hey at least you live to fight another day rather than becoming a vegetable for the entire life. I mean allexis arguello was seriously hurt in the first fight and he was getting hurt in the second fight so he was made his decision with the consideration of that his whole life is at stake.

plus a guy like kostya who was such a tremendous fighter and a decorated champ just coz he quit doesn't mean that he has no guts or balls. he didn't want to spend the rest of his life with disabilities. he came in as a healthy fighter and wanted to retire as a healthy person, plus he wants to remember what he gave to the sport not what the sport took from him
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

Are you DEFINITELY gonna fight again, or not, cuz I really don't need to read anymore quotes from him about his dancing.
if he's going to fight. ..fight...if one wants to dance.....dance...but make a decision....what next? and appearance on PRO'S VS Joe's?....
It feels good to be back home.

also kostya was a true gentleman and proffesional after the fight with ricky and acknowledged to the world that ricky was better than him in every department in that fight. and made no excuses about quiting. unlike fighters like Sharmba Mitchell who was captured on camera quiting but claimed that his corner stopped the fight.

Starr zab will never have to quit coz he chin will do it for him. Unlike super glass jaw judah....kostya can take a punch and probably too well for his own good. Call kostya a quitter, i dont care....id rather him be a quitter then him being dead! Lets not forget that one of the biggest warriors in the bussiness, aturo gatti quit against mayweather. And if you think kostya was fine then....watch that nut shot again....thats enough to stop an elephant and look at photos of kostya after the fight. Thats never happened to judah coz he turns into a pussy the first time he looks to be hurt, kostya was hurt a few times against hatton....but he never started running away like judah does. Whos the real man starr, someone like kostya who knows when hes finished and can acknowledge defeat, show manners....or judah whos mouth doesnt shut at all and has tried to bash a ref and cant take defeat ?

Kosta may have quit but he was fighting a hurricane in there and to have lasted that long,at that age,is a magnanious achievement! The nut shots, elbows etc etc plus the body shots and Tszyu's age=Kostya earning respect!!

I agree with that, man (The Game). People forget that he's an old man. He went to the hospital afterwards, for more than a couple of weeks I hear. It was bad.

I never thought he should have retired, or stopped boxing momentarily. He lost to Ricky Hatton, a Gladiator. Maybe Kostya needed a break, but not a long one. Perhaps he needs this dancing break of his, because he's keeping shape and mentally he wants one more return. No Hatton rematch, but a fight with Castillo Corrales winner... heheh, I dunno, he is getting old-er. I wouldn't want him to get hurt.

I don't want him to get hurt, but I never thought he was too old, based on his excellent performance against Hatton. I was impressed, even though he lost. He caught Hatton clean, moving backwards. Hatton, IMO had the right style to defeat or give a tough fight with Kostya, even if Kostya was young. Although Kostya's combination punching would have gotten him outta the way from much of the beating, it still would have been a tough grueling, competitive fight.

Kostya quit, Starr is right - but that doesn't make him a quitter. It was a realistic choice.

It takes just a bit of bravery to put yourself in the position where someone could even raise the question of whether you might be a quitter.

A quitter would have quit. So would a wise person. Same behavior, different motivation.

The onus is on us fools out here to see if we can tell the difference. I think most of us can.

If Kostya wants to have a period of hemming and hawing as he says his final good-byes to his boxing career, so be it. It's kind of like a divorce, or wondering if you should move away from a town you've lived in for 15 or 20 years. Takes time to process.

The impatience of some of you folks about all that is absolutely meaningless. You aren't that important. Go watch cartoons.
