Zab was faster than Floyd, but he got pretty much shut out didn't he?

    And as I've said before:
textbook skills and form> than natural physical ability.

People might think I don't like Roy, I do but I find a lot of his recent quotes so contradictory and hypocritical.
With a record of what 36 KO's after the Hanshaw fight he came out saying: "I don't like to KO guys unless I really have to."

Now in the run up to this fight he says "I really want a knock out" "Only a knockout will do" and "a knockout would be the best birthday present I could get"

Their handspeed is about the same. Floyd has better footspeed and faster upperbody reflexes.

Zab only looked faster than floyd because zab would throw slow punches followed by faster ones...jab...jab,left
Floyd right leads that got to zab before he could move...not once did zab land a lead left...

that's and old optical illusion slow followed by fast appears to make the latter stand out more...

I'd rate Zab faster. (Actually I checked and Baldomir did too!)
However Mayweather coped very well in that sitaution.
If you pose the question: How would Jones have coped with a guy just as fast and possessing similar skills I've got to presume not as well as Floyd.

Skills beat ability for me, thats why PBF is beter Pound for pound for me.
And God I hate Floyd, but he's damn good.

Actually It's not an optical illusion, it's a martial arts technique that was used by Bruce Lee and numerous others but was integrated into boxing by fighters like Lennox Lewis and SRL.
As I stated above Zab was said to be faster (at 147 at least) by common opponent Carlos Baldomir

I'd take that with a grain of salt though. For whatever reason, fighters always tend to praise guys they beat more than guys they lost to. A good example of this is when James Toney said that Merqui Sosa punched harder than Sam Peter.

Well by and large I take boxoing for boxing and judge on what I see rather than what I hear.
During the Mayweather Judah fight I thought that in the early going Judah did seem to be faster, but as the quality and quantity of his punching decreased I obviously couldn't say.
Then I see that Baldomir says Judah is faster even though he didn't really get along with Judah and now has a professional relationship with Floyd.

I felt even against Cotto Judah looked very fast. He's a nice fighter in fights that go well for him and although I have spent the last number of years consistently hating him, I am willoking him on in April against Margarito.

Oscar hit him on the button with a hard shot and Mayweather didn't even blink.
In my opinion that fight was an SHOW because Oscar hit more hard than that , that is why Floyd even blink... I realy want see if Floyd can hold a Cotto Shot like that.... What do yu think?
What the hell are you saying lol, I don't understand a word of that.

Baldomir said Zab was faster before he fought Mayweather, and by then Mayweather was already way above his natural weight... when they fought eachother the first half Zab in terms of time it took for his glove to get out and back(clocked) was a little faster than Mayweather becuase of the first 3 and a half rounds, but after that Mayweather's handspeed was faster than Zab's for the rest of the fight and even faster than Zab at the begining, but by a negligible amount I think it was the size and color of their gloves that threw people off. Also Mayweather throws a lot faster punches when he doesn't have his hands right beside his head.

Regardless as about ROy JOnes Jr. he was not faster than Mayweather prime for prime, not even close, was he faster pound for pound? For sure, but watch Mayweather up to 140, hell even now and you'll see that besides combinations he has quicker hands than ROy... Many times I've watched Roy, in his prime and at LHW, then threw in a fight of FLoyd against Dela HOya, or Baldomir or against Judah and the speed is a little faster. SO Floyd at WW is still faster than Roy in his prime, and Floyd used to be way faster than he is now.
