Yeah, Arum is a very smart promoter. He's been throwing some small jabs at Floyd to hype up Cotto, but if you notice he's not going crazy demanding a fight with Mayweather like he was with Margarito. With Tony, he had a guy with a faithful Mexican following, if Floyd beat Tony, so what? Tony had 5 losses or something like that on his record so he might as well get a huge payday for Tony before someone else beats him. If Tony actually won then Tony is a bigger star and king of the welterweight division. It was almost a win-win situation.
With Cotto, he's got an undefeated Puerto Rican fighter on the cusp of superstardom. But the thing is that I think he knows Cotto is a little iffy. So he might as well keep the money train going and build Cotto up. In 2009, if Cotto is still undefeated, the Cotto fight WILL happen. You have to build up to these events.
