Default Ron Lyle -vs- Earnie Shavers 1975

There are alot of punches traded here. What do you all think?
Also I think Earnie Shavers would be the champion today. Man I was comparing his punches to Sam Peters.........no comparison. Sam Peter punches like me when in comparison.

I was watching Whitaker-ODLH post interview.......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFV7B...eature=related .....really slamming our golden princess. Man I don't think Sweet Pea won but those judges just make it look bad......WBC judges.

Didn't watch the video but im slightly confused with your thread mate, you put the title as Shavers vs Lyle then you posted Whitaker vs Oscar post fight interview or maybe im missing something ?? not really sure what your asking but Lyle vs Shavers is probably the greatest slugfest that most people haven't seen it, i still don't know how Lyle got up from that knockdown his whole body looked like he had been shot when he got floored amazing heart from Lyle to comeback and stop Shavers.

As for Whitaker vs ODLH i thought the fight was a draw people argue that Whitaker was too defensive. Which is true but ODLH wasn't terrible active himself and Whitaker did land many jabs against ODLH and made him look foolish throughout the bout, ODLH did land the harder shots and could of stole the close rounds on a lot of peoples scorecards based on stealing the round with his flurries, i think he fooled a lot of people with those flurries at the end which looked good but were mostly missing. Very close fight every time i watch i change my mind about the decision its that kind of fight.

No you aren't missing anything. I was just watching fights on youtube and I wanted to talk about two different topics......i figured our veteran posters could handle that.

He's definatly the hardest puncher in my book, but with his suspect chin and questionable stamina/heart, it would be hard for me to pick him against a guy like Wlad Klitchsko.

Shavers may be the hardest hitting HW of all time...Maybe P4P hardest of all time...a good case could be made for him that is for sure....His chin was not the most solid of all time though

I remember the punch Shavers landed on Holmes in there 2nd fight that dropped Holmes that was damn brutal. That maybe one of the hardest punches i've ever seen landed in Heavyweight history, and Holmes got up at only the count of 4 which was incredible because when he went down he actually looked like he had been shot with a shotgun and when he landed on the canvas he actually hit the canvas with a thump.

I think that is testament to both how good Larry Holmes was and how hard Earnie could hit.

Tex Cobb said something to teh effect that "If anyone hit harder that Shavers, I'd shoot him!"

CC- I love how they use to bring the fighters in and make them sit next to eachother.

I cool clicked everyone. That is what makes these fights so great. The controversy and the talk that it brings with it. ODLH today would never get caught in the cross fire like that.
