Obviously, he would go for Delahoya because of the money involved, but people criticize Mayweather for taking the fight that Cotto dreams about every day.

Meanwhile..................

Cotto is fighting ALFONSO GOMEZ, and please don't try to defend Gomez by making outrageous claims like "He's a real good fighter," or "He's a real tough kid that's gonna give Cotto a tough fight."

This is just as bad as when Antonio Margarito fought Golden Johnson, and if I recall, there were people out there making the same ridiculous claims for that fight as well.
Please clarify on what you base your assertion that Cotto would fight de la Hoya instead of Mayweather.

To me, fighting either one would make Cotto the most money he has ever made, so why choose one over the other? To me de la Hoya has a better shot at KO'ing Cotto than Floyd does. So for me, not only is Mayweather just as good a choice financially than Oscar, but also a safer one. Cotto might lose to Floyd, but he won't get Ko'd or "destroyed." Oscar might KO Cotto like the others before him couldn't.

Also, what are Cotto's options at this moment with everyone he should fight either avoiding him or being tied up?

True that fighting either one would make Cotto much more money than he ever has, but there's a huge difference between the 3-5 million that Cotto would probably make fighting Mayweather and the 8-10 million that he would probably get for fighting Oscar.

Boxing is business and there's no doubt that Cotto would go for the biggest purse out there especially when that purse is twice as much as the next biggest one out there.

This was a thread intended to shed some light on the whole "Mayweather is ducking Cotto," theory. I think it's pretty obvious that he's not when you take into consideration that Cotto would take the same fight over any other one out there, if given the chance.

As for your Cotto's options remark, just about ANYBODY (although almost all of the big names are all tied up at the moment) would be better. What would you say if Floyd was in the same situation as Cotto is in now and fought Gomez?

Cotto can't make a decent fight at 154?

Forrest would fight him, and might even try to come down to 147 to do it.
