It makes you wonder why neither Jones nor Calzaghe wanted to use their passports or board a large noisy thing called an aeroplane & fight each other in the 1990's or early this decade, when they were still able to fight?
All this talk about them fighting now is a total farce & it's just taking the fans for mugs!![]()

It virtually could have never happened Jones moved up to Light Heavyweight in 1996, before Calzaghe was even World Champion. And even Calzaghe won the title in 1997 he was still unknown outside UK. Jones was P4P 1 and looking at it from his point of view. He would have to move down a weight class and fight over in the UK against an opponent who was high risk/low reward the fact is Calzaghe wasn't a name outside the UK so there was no need for Jones to fight him in the 90s, plus they were always at different weight classes.Originally Posted by Syntax Error
I think you all suck Jones Jr's cock waaaaaay to much. Always with the same S*** aswell.
Roy Jones admitted a week or two ago he ducked Calzaghe. I cant beleive you give someone so much praise when with the clear talent Jones Jr had he should have been pushing to fight the best in each division and Unify them aswell. Yet even though he ducked Bhop who peaked after his loss to jones, he ducked Joe because he was "to dangerous". And he wouldn't leave his "comfort zone" he still gets this praise from you.
You call the Calzaghe fans Biased but really some of you Jones fans wanna take a good hard look at some of things you post.
Now i know Roy Jones was warm as toast in his day but lets be real.....you sounds like pac man fans some of you.
Just after that little rant i would add i think Roy would probably have beaten just about anyone you put in front him.But not like some sort of Mike tyson Ali Joe frazier cross breed monster.
"It wasn't the night of the jab"
Did you just read my post ?? the only way this fight could have happened is if Calzaghe moved up a weight class and went to USA, or Jones moved down a weight class and went to the UK. Both things i just mentioned virtually had no chance in hell of happening.Originally Posted by Tins06

I didn't no ICB I only read the first page.Good point though.Originally Posted by Ice Cold Boxing

You're right in what you say.
I'm just wound up about the 2 of them talking about fighting each other now.
It just seems like they want to swell their pensions at the expense of boxing fans.

I watched this fight on sopcast, the stream was not that great and I had to watch the first 4 rds on the MMA channel with the HBO announcers (Steward, Kellerman , Ledderman) then the station went off line so I found another station carrying the fight with korean announcers, I watched the last 8 rds there. I admit the streams were not the greatest as far as the picture quality but I didn't see Roy dominate anything. Without the two knockdowns I thought he was losing the fight up to that point, after the 7th rd I had it dead even at 66 pts each, I think he just did to much postering and not enough punching, he took a lot of body shots which score points also.
from what I could see the 10th rd knockdown came from a jab and just a grazing right, I couldn't score a winner of rd 11 so I called that rd even and the fight scored at 104 pts each without any announcers telling me Roy was dominating.
Next week when I see the fight on HBO with good picture quality maybe I'll see it different. At this time I didn't see a lopsided fight as the judges scored it. As far as Roy beating Joe C at this time in his career, I say no way could he win. I always considered Roy as a great fighter and one of my favorites and I picked him to win by decision, but he's not great anymore. I'll see if my opinion changes after I see it with a good quality picture with the sound turned down.
He fought a guy who hadnt fought in 3 years, and wasnt succesful at middleweight, and still had to wear him down rather then beat him outright at roughly supper middle
Woo hoo
From what Im reading alot,It sounds like he let up at times and did not go for the finish.Dare we say carried. I did not dole out the money for this "event" ,would have liked to have seen Bunema upset.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Nah,he kept getting gassed in the rounds so hed rest,he's just spent.Tito couldnt carry the weight, but early on it looked like his night,Jones just conserved his energy and Tito got gassed out by the middle rounds. Not an impressive victory in the slightestOriginally Posted by Spicoli Surfs 'Nawlins
Jones is living on memories,He has very little chance with the Calzaghe's and Hopkins level if he can not sustain an attack and no longer has the legs/stamina in company with those once lightning reflexes.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Come on man. It was obvious he coulda KO'd Tito if he really tried. He did carry him a little thats for sure. And it was a good win. I was disapointed he didn't go for the kill. But otherwise he easily handled Tito Trinidad. And thats not easy for most fighters to do.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey

Come on yourself,Tito was supposed to have no shot in this fight whatsoever, and he was taking the early rounds,Jones was slow and okey, but there was no way a 35 year old Tito could bulk up to 170 and pull off 12 roundsOriginally Posted by Hulk
