If you look at Trinidad's prime, only 4 guys made it the distance against him: Hopkins, Oscar, Reid, and Pernell.

Hopkins and Oscar both turned in great defensive performances. They had their speed and skills, so they were able to avoid getting hit with Tito's big punches for the 12 rounds.

Reid was knocked down 4 or 5 times, and the fight really should have been stopped before the final round.

Pernell ate Tito's biggest shots flush for 12 rounds, he let Tito land half his punches, and yet he only went down once, in the 2nd round on a flash knockdown.
I wouldn't consider that knockdown a "flash" knockdown. Tito landed flush and with enough power to put Whitaker on his butt. Whitaker did not slip nor was he out of position. I will admit, however, that Whitaker was not really hurt, but still, it was not a "flash," unless I do not understand the definition of the term.
