Mate are United Fans really heated throughout Britain?
Or just in some areas like Man. City and around?

Well, Utd is pretty much acknowledged as the glory hunters' favourite team, leading to jokes about there being more Utd fans in Surrey than in Manchester etc etc. And once they hear your American accent, you can expect a few light-hearted jibes, and one guy who goes too far and yells at you as you walk down the street in the red shirt.
