It is very difficult to compare fighters from different eras. However, I have always liked Larry Holmes he was the champion when I was training. great Jab, good short right, moved well. Larry Holmes beat some good fighters cooney from what I understand was a very hard puncher with decent boxing skills but was usually drunk in the ring. To fight Lewis, Holmes would have had to fight more in the pocket and take a chance of getting hit more often. He did take a good punch: but we are talking 6'5" 240 and in close he had that clinching style. This would have been a trainers fight. Who really knows.
