Default You reckon Trinidad and Cotto might get it on?

If Trinidad doesn't retire again immediately is this possible?

Would anyone want to see it and would Cotto move up to fight him?

I have no interest myself just thinking as Tito is currently back an all Puerto Rican showdown between the two would be a huge fight commercially.

I don't care for it to happen and that's not what I'm asking, just wandering if you guys think that it will seeing as most huge domestic fights eventually end up being made?

I HIGHLY doubt this fight gets made. A number of reasons, the main 2 being:Cotto is in 147,the deepest and richest division in boxing and 2,Cotto isn't going to 160 and Tito is coming to 154!

Well I doubt it, however I feel a fight between the two would be absolutley huge! It could serve as the moment Cotto leaves Felix's shadow once and for all.

Please, dude,we already had the event of Tito v RJ,we have Floyd v Oscar 2 to look forward to too,no more events. I want to see fighters stay in their weight classes and make the meaningful fights. And Cotto is already his own man imo.

I wasn't calling for it at all.
I was merely alluding to the fact, that a bout between these two countrymen would be a massive source of revenue. It is well known by all of us boxing enthusiasts that the signing of fights is directly linked to one thing; money.
So from that perspective I could not fully rule out a fight between these two, particularly having watched Tito perform reasonably well last weekend.

As for fighters staying in their own weight, well I have mixed feelings. I feel a fighter should not abandon his title obligations for a superfight against another fighter, largely because a loss will leave the division with a tarnished champion. Furthermore, I feel the implementation of "catchweights" to be the equivalent of the bastardization of our sports fundamental rules by greedy, money hungry promoters and fighters.

Finally, Cotto entered the limelight for me after the Abdullaev and Torres wins. I was a doubter initially, but I am now a firm fan, due to his fan friendly style, respectful personality and work ethic in training. However, he forever will be compared to Felix. As he is "our generations superstar" I actually hope his achievements can exceed those of his predecessor and his continuous development does not rule that out!

Who knows, but first ;Cotto is looking now all contander in 147 pnd.and big fights..... But i think for his height he can make some fight at 154 pnd.; who knows!!!!?..... I hearded that Tito in P.R. have some like Jealous of Cotto , because Cotto in P.R. all fans are talking all the time about him and him and Tito think that his fame are going down..... I DONT THINK SOOOO......He made a good career and Glory for P.R. ....... But if that is true , who knows if Tito stay to going 154 pnd. and make some fight and then the promoters push to make them fight or to wait if Cotto going up to 154 pnd. in mid of 2009.....We know that the money talk , in this career everything can happen.....Who knows....

It would have to be at 154 and I dont think Cotto wants to go there, plus he leaves all those decisions to his promoter and manager so I doubt Cotto will fight above 147 for at least two or three years. Trinidad couldnt get there anymore without being weight drained imo and doubt he would want to try especially with his options at his weight now.

It could happen but can Tito get even further down in weight from 170lbs to 154 or even 147lbs its a big ask of his body but i would watch it.

No way this happens. Cotto is a 147 pound fighter, right now and for the forseeable future. Tito can't make 147 unless he has an arm amputated.

Not happening and there would be no point to it either. The lowest I could see Trinidad going is 160 and I have my doubts since he came into his last fight .2 pounds over. I still can't believe he had trouble making weight at 170.

Cotto should stay at 147 and claim suppremacy as long as Mayweather stays away. I'm still not sure how Cotto will handle the bigger 147lbers like Margarito, Williams or even Cintron and Clottey. I doubt Cotto would have much success if he moves up in weight.

I don't see it...Cotto has a full plate of opportunities at 147 and Tito I doubt could get down top 147...IMO at 154 Tito would have trouble making weight...Tito has a few good fights in him after what I seen Saturday...He needs some tune ups to get the rust out but other then that he looked good...fit....I just don't think Ctto would be something on the horizon

The lower the weight, the more devastating Tito is. But I do not think he can make 147 ever again and I do not think Cotto wants to risk losing his status if he goes up to fight Tito at 154.

I personally don't like this type of fights of 2 idols from Puerto Rico, unless the 2 are solid champions in their divisions, and basically there is no other better options. In this case I can make the exception. In the case of Cotto and Tito, I personally don't think it will happen. Tito will not go below 160, and I don't think Cotto will jump from 147 to 160. And, there are many other options specially for Cotto who is a rising star. Tito has already done a lot in boxing, and if he decides to continue, I wish just one fight, De La Hoya.

Actually, I prefer watching Cotto and Cintron, fighting Maragarito, Floyd, Williams rather than the fight between Puertorricans. If they beat these big names, then they are welcome to fight each other
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!
