Remember,when it tires out(dont try this at home,Im only doing this because he's a friend and intends to compete no matter what I say)reverse your guard,drop the hand in to a strictly defensive position,up and down,but you should still be able to snap a jab with it.
It serves numerous purposes,it rests the arm,it tightens your defense while you get some rest,and it tends to confuse your opponent
