I'll say it now, if Calzaghe beats Hopkins and then if Pavlik beats Taylor again, a win for Calzaghe over Pavlik puts him into the top 20 of all time imo.
His record will be as good as Haglers imo.
I have to disagree. Beating Pavlik, although a tough challenge, would not be a huge task for a fast boxer. Bhop or Jones could beat Pavlik also in my opinion. Top 20 of all time is really giving him way too much credit. Kessler is a good fighter, so is pavlik, but they are far from considered great. Bhop was a great middleweight at "one time".
At this point none of them are great. They are nice notches to have on a belt, but "greatness" gets thrown around way too much these days IMO.
Please don't even mention Joe in the same breath as Hagler. Hagler did fight great fighters, over the long haul. Joe skirted through what was for many years one of the weakest divisions in the sport fighting unheralded guys time and time again. He stayed there also when he did not have to. Hagler fought the wolves, for many years and Kessler and Pavlik are just not on that level yet.
