Hatton fought Floyd for the huge payday. Losing at a higher weight to the p4p number one is no disgrace but losing at the weight you're supposed to be world number one at to a bloke up the road makes your career look like a bit of a fraud.
In boxing, anything is possible, who knows perhaps Witter could pull the upset, but is it likely?
Your assumptiuon that Witter would win is an opinion and you're entitled to it, but it is by no means the common consensus or a commonly held belief in boxing.
If Hatton does fight Witter what prevents the press (particularily the American press) from labeling it a gimme fight against a domestic opponent? Will that add credit to his legacy?
It's very likely that Witter would beat Hatton. Hatton's style is made for him and Witter has the ability to make Hatton look very bad indeed.
I'm not sure whether a Hatton win is such a commonly held view. I'm sure there are plenty of people who think Witter would beat him.
Hatton is likely to take a far easier fight than Witter next and for subsequent fights too. How can fighting a WBC champion be seen as a gimme? Fighting Witter, the WBC champ and number one 140 pound contender is the least easy option at 140.
Can you think of anybody who could give him a tougher fight at 140?
