I'm not a Witter fan ( I think a fight between him and Malignaggi might be one of the worst of all time) but the guy is the WBC champ, the recognised number one contender to Hatton at 140 and he lives 50 miles up the road.

Hatton has claimed he's the best at 140 and only wants big fights yet he's clearly avoiding a fight for the most prestigious belt against a local rival. At some point the excuses just wore a bit thin for me.

And it wouldn't be a worse fight to watch than most of the other options Hatton has now. Witter would do his counterpunching thing and it wouldn't be an all-out war like we like to see Hatton in, but then again you probably have to go back to the Tszyu fight for a Hatton performance like that.
