Welcome back guys,
Friday night action once again this week after the excellent fare dished up last week by Pickering and Hughes.
Tonight's fight comes from the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, where Colin Lynes defends his European Light Welterweight title again Finn Juho Tolppola.
Here's the tale of the tape as I can call it:
Colin Lynes (30-3, 12KOs) is the former British titlist who has sneaked up almost unnoticed on the inside rail of the light welter scene in this country, moving well over recent times into claiming the European title last time out against Young Muttley last July. Lynes is a competent boxer with a stronger punch than his record suggests, and should have the edgo over Tolppola in this warm-up for his clash with Gianluca Branco at the end of February. Lynes will have the fans behind him in East London, and will be expecting to outbox Tolppola and grab another stoppage win, and certainly avoid a cut or an injury which could jeopardise his bout with Branco. A KO win will also boost his travelling support when he flies to Milan next month.
Juho Tolppola (20-3-1, 9KOs) is expected to purely turn up and give Lynes a nice warm-up for the fight, but with the European title on the line there is no doubt that Tolppola will be looking to throw a spanner in the works and claim that title for himself. Tolppola has had a competent, if uninspiring record so far, and although he's never been stopped by KO, a cut in his last bout ended in a TD. Having lost in his last challenge for this title in Jan 07 on points to Michele Di Rocco, Tolppola will be looking to regain the form which gave him a Bronze medal in the European Senior Championships when he was still an amateur.
Hard to look beyond the obvious result on this one, and a comfortable UD for Lynes is my call.
Coverage starts at 10pm GMT, 11pm Continental Europe and 5pm EST.Seeya then.
