wow, 13-2 in favor of Witter. Seems people lost confidence in hatton.

The results of the post so far are surprising. I don't see how anyone can pick Witter over Hatton with any confidence at all. It's easy to dismiss a fighter when he has just lost, and more sadly it is the safe option. I'm repeating myself, as I've said this on another thread, but Hatton will surprise those who have written him off.

Gave my vote to Hatton he can still dominate the light welter division IMO. I'm pissed at Hatton for all his excuses for Witter but if he takes the fight albeit dangerous one I be hard pressed to vote against Ricky.

But can't count out Witter. His style seems suited to just drop bombs on Hatton on his way in.As long as Ricky gets back to how he was, head movement and "intelligent pressure" rather than just jumping in chin hanging out to dry and Holding, he is almost predictable these days.

There is alot of criticism for hatton in his past couple of fights for the way he fought and faded in a few fights. Is his lifestyle catching up to him?

I think Hatton should be judged on whether he has ducked Witter when he retires. i too desperately want to see this fight but I see things happening like this.

In May Hatton has a tune up, later this year he fights Paulie in MSG then say Feb 2009 he fights on the same card as Witter, maybe in the US then takes on Witter at the City of Manchester stadium in 2009.

I do not think Hatton is ducking Witter. Witter will continue to raise his profile in the US. He will beat Hopkins then take another fight against a decent american or a name (Torres) before taking on Hatton. A lot more people will have heard of Witter and the fight will be a lot bigger. More £s for them both.

Exactly, it was agreed before the Mayweather fight that weight would not be an excuse but as soon as he gets KTFO here we are again talking about how he was too small. The F****** guy enters the ring fight night at 152 when he's a light welter for F*** sakes.
And i bet Hatton walks around at about 13stone to 13stone 7lbs thats about 1stone 7lbs to 2stone heavier than most welter's walk round at i think the bottom line is Hatton just ain't that good he should have lost to Collazo aswell.
Nah thats like saying Floyd struggled at lightweight cuz he had a tough fight with Castillo or struggled at 154 cuz he had a close fight with Oscar. You get tough nuts in every weight class and Urango was a hard 1 to crack . Floyd was just too good for him and Ricky could do nothing aout it .

Hatton beat Urango 120 to 108 on all the score cards. Urango's a good fighter, not a struggle.

There aint no 5 foot 6 amazing Welterweight in my world. Maybe in yours.
Yes he was clearly ahead on scoring but he was holding a hell of alot down the stetch vs Urango and Cotto is only 5ft 7inch and Mayweather only 5ft 8inch and he has been upto 154lbs Former undisputed welterweight champ Zab Judah 5ft 7 an half inch also Henry Armstrong 5ft 5 an half inch,Pernell Whitaker 5ft 6inch
There's no point being a hero once you've won the fight already.
Holding stopping the guy from fighting shows a mentality of a great fighter. Perhaps not to the fans.

No offence to the Americans and 5'5 1/2 Henry Armstrong, but the rest of the world was at war when he became welter weight champ.
Sorry but that doesn't really count IMO.

I stated his height and he's shorter, than 99% of welter weights.
If i state his reach it's shorter than 99% of welter weights.

In fact Hatton is smaller than Kostya Tszyu who never fought over 140. Says it all really.

Tale of the tape shows that Hatton is to small for welterweight. But obvioulsy you've made up your own mind.
    You Hatton hater. LOL

Not making excuses pointing out that he's clearly smaller. Hatton has also been champion at welterweight. Pernell Whitaker was a south paw and had a long reach.

I like Hatton and Hate Witter , thats a fact.
I have a friend who has watched every Hatton fight at home and abroad and at the time Hatton was about to fight Kostya , i said to him i thought Witter would just be totally the wrong style for Hatton.
and i stick by this , i think my money would be on Witter , even tho id love Ricky to knock Witter out.

What do you think about Witter's style that Ricky would find difficult ??.

The reason I think Witter would be such a nightmare for Ricky is cuz look at the boxers who Hatton struggled with - Magee , Colazzo and Floyd . Two were southpaws like Witter . All of them were counterpunchers like Witter . They were all pretty quick and have good chins like Witter. One difference though is Witter bangs much harder than all of them .

Ricky said if Floyd trades with me he'll get eaten . We saw what happend and if he thinks Floyd packs a punch wait till he tastes Witters power .
