.. just surprised how many have latched onto - Hatton is out-of-order ducking Witter all of a sudden.

I think the point you are missing is that before Hatton lost to Mayweather, he was arguably a p4p guy, and had set his sights on the Mayweather fight for some time. As long as he had Mayweather, or about a half dozen other WW's that he could've fought, there was no reason to pick a Witter fight OVER those prospects. Now it's about what's on the table for him. And it isn't a fight at welterweight. That leaves Witter, Malignaggi, Tores, Holt, not really marquee names by any means. I think it's just logical that based on recent performances Witter is the best fight for him, and has more of a case to fight the LINEAL champ than anyone else. Very logical imo, I think your overstating the whole fanboy aspect, people just want to see what is clearly the most meaningful fight in that division. Who doesn't want to see the ring and lineal champion fight another champion who is clearly the next best guy.
Hmm.. as it goes I understand the reason for starting this thread

I'm pleased to see so many, all of a sudden, seeing Witters worth.
Before he lost to Mayweather you could make a case that they were operating in two different leagues, Hatton in huge Vegas fights and Witter fighting in Doncaster. Hatton could make a legitimate case that HBO weren't interested in Witter so there couldn't be a fight. Now that Hatton is in a rebuilding phase of his career there's no good excuse. Even after the Mayweather fight I was saying that HBO wouldn't be interested in a Witter matchup but Hatton's next opponent (at least) won't be any more of an attraction to HBO, so there's no real excuse anymore. Still don't see it happening -- I think Hatton would have to lose to a non title holder before he's take it.
