ICE:
Because a lot of fans go with other peoples opinions instead of there own, before the fight happened i asked some of these people who were picking Lacy, if they had seen Sheika vs Lacy or Vanderpool vs Lacy ?? and guess what there answer was ?? no. Most of these people who were picking Lacy jumped on Lacy bandwagon after seeing him beat a shot Reid, what you must realize Donny is that most armchair fans don't watch a lot of a certain fighters career, they watch 1 or 2 fights. And also most of the Yanks who were picking Lacy had hardly seen any of Calzaghe's fights because they were not broadcast on USA television, only a few of his fights were but they were mostly on the under cards. And in most cases armchair fans don't really take any notice of under cards or they quickly forget it. I had seen at least 10+ fights of Lacy before his fight with Calzaghe, and i had also been following Calzaghe since about 2000. And i also had Calzaghe's career set and i could see that this fight was highly skilled veteran champion aka Calzaghe, against a 1 dimensional heavily flawed but strong young upcoming inexperienced champion aka Lacy. The skill level gap was huge and style wise Lacy was made for Calzaghe.

Ice the fact remains, Jeff Lacy was expected by the vast majority of the boxing media and public to beat Joe Calzaghe.
Calzaghe upto that point was viewed as a paper champion, an unproven fighter and even a fraud. Lacy was seen to be the real deal. He had power, a large following and a very impressive record, supported by an illustrious amateur career.

Whether you acknowledge it or not Lacy was heavily favoured to beat Calzaghe as the majority still believed in Lacy. On a perasonal level perhaps you believed Lacy was exposed, but until the majority realised he was not all he was cracked up to be he could not have been classified as an exposed fighter.
