Double dose of Trinidad (vs Mosley / vs Forrest)

Tito seems to be a hot topic lately on this board so I decided to do a 2 for 1. We have talked about them but I have not seen a thread on it.

Trinidad vs Mosley 147

Trinidad vs Forrest 147.

Mosley in his prime probably had the fastest hands in boxing. He was a better Lightweight but made his name as a Welter by giving Oscar his first convincing loss.

Forrest had a short reign but it was impressive as he gave a clear cut beating to Shane who was considered by many as the top p4p at the time.

However, in the end neither man could hold the title for long. How would they fair with the longest reigning champion is WW history.

I must be honest, I do not know much about Forrest. I know he got KOed badly by Mayorga and that Mayorga is still the only man to have beaten him but there was a period in time (from around 2001 to 2004) when I stopped watching boxing. I was one of those rabid Tito fans( in some ways I still am) that got extremely disapointed when he lossed and just stopped being a fan all together.

So basically what I am trying to say is I have no frigin clue if Forrest was any good or if he simply had Mosley's number (something I never really though applied in this sport). I do remember some years ago, back when Tito was thought to be unbeatable, some sports writter claimed that the man to beat him was Forrest, who at the time had no title and was a rising up and comer. I was shocked that anybody would have the "cogones" to say that some up and comer, untested contender would last more than 4 rounds in the ring with Tito, much less beat him. But then Tito lossed his aura of invincibility at the hands of Hopkins and shortly after that Forrest dominates Mosley. Even though these two events have nothing to do with eachother, sometimes I wonder if that writer know what he was saying.

The way Mosley had problems with tall guys(reach) I pick Tito to Win
and the Way Vernon had problems with Mayorga I def pick Tito to win.

Not too many posts i see. Guess we all finally got an overdose of Trinidad.

Anyway here is my 2 cents.

Despite the fact that Mosley was incredably fast and that he had some great combinations and really was a great representative of the nickname "Sugar". I feel he would've met his match against Tito. Contrary to popular opinion Shane was never a great boxer, he was first and foremost, a brawler. He liked to mix it up and he relied on his reflexes to avoid shots and if that did not work he relied on his solid chin which only failed him once. He does not have a strong jab and he does not have the best defense. Wilfredo Rivera was hitting Mosley very frequently in their fight.

I say Tito would beat him because I consider Tito a much better puncher and harder hitter than Forrest and it was against Forrest that Mosley's chin failed. I feel it would fail against Trinidad as well and Tito would come back from behind on the cards to dominate the latter rounds and take a hard fought but convincing UD.

As for Forrest, Like I said before, I don't know a hole lot about him but the man could not beat Mayorga in 2 fights. When you get KOed in 3 by an uknown you could call it luck. When you fight him again after you know what you are dealing with and still lose, even if it was close, than there is no excuse. I just can't see a guy who could not beat Mayorga beating Tito. But than again I could be wrong. Winky lossed to Vargas and look what he did to Trinidad....
