Living in Flint can be a hard life. I used to and I'm glad I got the hell out. Shortly after getting married my wife and I lived in a studio apartment. We bounced around to a few places in the area, including a house apt near Kettering University (formerly GMI) where my wife was a student that we later found out was condemned the whole time we called the place home. Half the city has no sidewalk and the "downtown area consists of about 4 city blocks. GM packing their bags and leaving town really crippled the city, including a brief stint in which the state came in to run things. Dort Hwy is a particular street of ill-refute, sporting a strip club (not necessarily a bad thing) and spotted here and there with prostitutes. If you HAD to live in the city I'd look on the west side, Dort is on the east and you'd be playing craps with the rest of your life if you chose to hang out there after dark.
