We live in the age of the 'cult of celebrity', which gives great rewards to so-called celebs but also places them under enormous pressure, under which they naturally crack.

I don't mean to get uptight about this, but I can't help getting wired when some Hollywood prick is given sympathy for having a 'hard life' (and I accept your point, it's just the way I'm wired together .... I can't help it)

If your brother died, of course I wouldn't come on and say anything crass like that ..... the point is that we seem to get excited about certain people who we don't know dying, more so than other people we don't know ...... and there are many people I would feel sympathy and sorrow for than some actor guy.

You're right though .... I do need to relax and not get uptight about this. Fair comment.

I will take a chill pill ......................... just not as many as Heath did.
haha.. nah, i understand where you're coming from, because I usually feel this way when this type of thing happens. I just think that this specific celebrity is in a different category because he really wasn't known to be a druggie, and what not. It's not like a Britney or Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton etc type of deal.

Anyway, the only reason why your post bothered me is because it's mostly all guys on this board, and the few girls that post are real cool.. so it's not like people are posting "OH MY GOD HE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL I CANT BELIEVE HE'S DEAD.. I CRIED MYSELF TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT".. That's the type of stuff that you hear in the media, and you read on web articles.. I just think everyone here is pretty genuine, and shouldn't really get criticized for their sympathy towards something.. Considering the 'environment', for lack of a better word, I don't think anyone was getting carried away by saying "damn he died, that sucks"..

But man believe me, if this was a different environment I'm 100% with you with the whole "people getting excited when celebrities they don't even know die"..

I think i've said it on here before, but about a year ago I went to see comedian Ron White in Boston, and he said something to the extent of "So i was at the Hard Rock Casino in Florida.. and man, i lost my ass there.... well, so did Anna Nicole" and everyone was ooooo'ing and then he said, c'mon people, we have people fighting in Iraq that die every day, and they're not on the news for a month straight.. in fact they hide that news from the media..

So, believe me, I hear ya man.. CC #553
