If it was a knockdown and Barerra hit JMM when he was down, then a point could've been deducted.. but if he wasn't "down" then why did Barerra get penalized by hitting him?

Anyway.. JMM lucked out by not going down to his knee.. usually I'd encourage the fighter to just give in and take the knee at that point to avoid any more punishment on the way down and try to regroup.. That was pretty terrible though.
Nady said he thought Barrera hit Marquez on the shoulder or something ?? but anyway he hit Marquez while he was on the floor and looking at it from Nady's point of view he thought it wasn't a knock down and clearly see Barrera deliberately Marquez while he was on the floor plus hitting your opponent while he is on the canvas is a terrible foul, Barrera has always been a bit of a hot head.
ah.. thanks Ice..

I agree it was a stupid action on MAB's part, but in his defense the ref should've got in there and forced him to a neutral corner and scored the knockdown before Barerra even had a chance to do that.. Barerra sort of hesitated and wondered why the ref didn't get in the way, and then decided to hit JMM to make him really go down..

regardless of what he's done before, I don't think you can blame a boxer for continuing to fight when there is no stoppage, or in this case a knockdown.. Mayweather/Gatti comes to mind, and also one that is sort of similar was Gomez against Concepcion.. Gomez basically turned Concepcion with punches, so that he had his back to Gomez, and the ref didn't stop it, so Gomez ran up to him and KO'd him.. I think in these circumstances, it was more of a ref error than MAB.
