I believe that he is ready & has done what it takes to take on anyone at welterweight! Why hasn't he got his big break & what would be the outcome?

I'm not saying that he is, but realistically, who else is out there to beat in order to get a mega-fight? He is where he needs to be to take any fight!Originally Posted by Violent Demise

Margarito and Cotto would produce a Classic .
I like bold too![]()
I know what Northside means. Although Mosley was a mega fight in it's own right, i think he means a big fight against somebody who's in their prime. Like a Mayweather for example.
I think Cotto beats everyone except Mayweather.

Alfonso Gomez is Cotto's Mega fight. More people know Alfonso Gomez because he was on the Contender and plus he was the one who retired Arturo Gatti.
Seriously though, I hope we see Cotto against Tony M. or Paul W. this year.

Unles Margarito blows it again, he will face Margarito next. And that will be HUGE for us and for him.
Margarito is as close to his prime as anybody can be. He is a top 5 welterweight. And by then he will be a champion so it will be a Unification fight. By the way, that will be Cotto's first fight against a champion.

But after all is obvious that this year it comes Margarito , (Cintron), and P.Williams at the end of year.....Ohhh i forgot, that is if P.W. win to Quintana , we know that in this sport of boxing everything can happen

Made alot of noise about Cotto vs Ffloyd but When and If Cotto unify's WW division, He will get his shot at Mayweather.

On a paralel topic, I feel that I have to make a point. For too long I have reserved my opinion on this subject, instead choosing to remain objective, withhold judgement and examine the evidence in as much as I possibly could.
And at this stage I am particularily pleased to be able to confirm:
Miguel Cotto is a fucking legend!

I'm going to put this in bold, italics, AND underlined!!
Cotto's only two possible MEGA-fights are with Mayweather or De La Hoya. I don't see a fight with Oscar ever happening. However, I still believe Floyd-Cotto will take place in the Spring/Summer of 2009, if they both stay undefeated.
Look I understand the HUGE demand for Cotto - Mayweather. Every man who calls himself a boxing fan and many others that just call themselvs sports fans in general would want to see this fight. But this fight is NOT the ONLY big fight out there for Cotto.
Cotto vs Margarito (assuming they both win their next fight) will be a WW unification bout between two top 5 welters. This is enough to be a big fight.
Cotto vs Williams would also be big for the same reasons.
I do fear, however, that if Cotto does fight Margarito and Williams this year there is a very high probability that he will lose his 0 before he gets his shot at Mayweather.
I could be wrong though..
Allyou guys really HATE Cotto ahhhhhhhhhh

But this thread is about MEGA-fights, and Cotto-Margarito is not even close to being that type of fight, because 99% of people in the US have no clue who Antonio Margarito is. That might not even be a PPV fight.Originally Posted by The Rookie Fan
