He lost his legs
Lets face it Smokin Joe had relatively short reach for a heavyweight,he needed to close the gap quickly, when his legs started to give, the end was very quickly in sight

Some good points but i believe it was just a bad style match up for Frazier, he was far too small plus he was always coming at Foreman which made it easier for Forman because he loved guys who come right at him, plus even though Frazier had decent head movement he wasn't that hard to hit and when he was bobbing and weaving he hardly ever threw punches. Funny enough Frazier done much better in the rematch by actually using counter's and not just walking right too Foreman, Foreman actually had a few problems in the first few rounds but he finally caught up to Frazier in the end. I do agree though that Frazier was never quite the same after the 1st Ali fight i think he was in hospital for like 2 weeks ?? i think a piece of Frazier stayed in the ring that night and his form never quite returned and that showed in fights with Stander and Bugner. Although give Frazier credit even in his two losses to Foreman he was always standing when he was stopped he was never stopped while on the canvas and he kept getting up and up even though it was useless because he was totally over powered.
