REP IDEA need thoughts on it....

As this is a Boxing Forum i can change the Scales to a boxing glove so you can punch a post Cool or Sad

Change the Rep Power to Punching Power

then change the mouse over quotes to holding his own, scored a KO, etc for plus rates and hes on the ropes, his stamina is low, he's been KTFO etc.

I love that idea Saddo, thats perfect.

Just thought I'd mention.

I gave some Rep. but it didn't ask me how much I wanted to give

no mate your rep power is 44 thus when you rep someone it hits them with 44

if someone only had 10 rep power then it would be 10 they got and so on... they dont know till they check there usercp to see the coment and the amout depending on who gives it its different... thats why puch power seems a better idea than rep power with the nature of the board

oh, and another thing..

you guys can completely disagree with me on this..

But i was reading stuff on another forum once (not sure if it was a boxing one or not) and they had some sort of money value that they could bet with and stuff.. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool, as we could bet on fights.

Not saying that we should do away with rep or anything.. just that this is something separate and strictly for betting and exchange..

Only thing, the forum that i was browsing through had ridiculously large amounts of money.. long ass numbers.. I think it would be cool if we all started with like 5 or 10 (saddo currency) and had to really think of what we wanted to bet on.

The way the rep power is explained it could lead to even more mass quantities of brown nosing and Eliteism??

It just sounds like a big status grab with everyone trying to get props from the top rep havers and the newbies and low ballers just feed on the bottom.
I dont know,The new forum is top notch,world class and to be admirred but strictly speaking on the CC/SC ,If It is not broke,Dont try to fix it.No need to get Into a convoluded mish mash to change for the sake of changing.The rep system seems uptight and restrictive,"I approve" or "I Disapprove" that's lame.The Idea of being able to see who actually boost you up or takes you down is interesting,You can put a face on it (or see who does not return the favor) but It sort of takes the quarrel to a back room. You loose that Instantaneous feeling in a thread...You could look to the side and see it right away in the heat of the moment ,where as with rep points you have to build it up in "blocks" like an unseen Investment.All right I'll quit crying in my beer

.Pardon the ramble,been on Royal St. Thiss day . The 'boxing" idea can go places though but The Rep and karma system not so hot Imo.

Great ideas Saddo this is turning out to be a very good new forum indeed.

I'd like to see a bit more diversity in the titles, and some more harder to obtain ones.

For example on the last crappy old board (Old board I SPIT ON YOU!) virtually every johnny come lately was a Forum Greatest Of All Time after a couple weeks.

It should be much much more selective.

I think the people with no rep just be called forum amatuers and after 100 posts they become new pro's or something.

Then the ratings could be rep and time based. So people who have been here a few months but still don't have much rep are called club fighters, bums etc.

Get to a 10 rep maybe you become a national champion.

20 rep makes you an IBO or WBO champ

25 rep makes you a legitimate world champ.

30 rep makes you a two time world champ

35 rep makes you a multiple weight star.

40 rep means you are a first ballot Saddo Hall of Famer.

In addition the top 10 with the highest rep should have their status announced as Top 10 p4p with their position noted.

So Wacko presumably would be the Saddo P4P Number 1 with ICB, Lyle, Gamo and yourself maybe as the rest of the Top 5.

I would also request my own status as The Internet's number 1 Hobbit. Would mean a lot to me

no mate your getting mixed up the title is the mouse over you see when you mouse over your rep bar and that can go up and down is you upset the whone people
