The "Latin Fake" gets KO'd if he steps up. Taylor would KO him and so would Forest! No dobt in my mind... Mora is no friggin Mosley. Mora vs Forest KO 4

The Viper would damage him badly... Bust him right up!

IO don't think he can be classed as overrated as everyone seems to think he's a C level fighter.

    lol good point...
However i do consider him HIGHLY overated for him to have gotten a chance at taylor (who he ran away from).
Sergio Mora is just finding the right fight to lose. Because he HAS to step up, and when he does its lights out. Its just a matter of who its going to be against.

That is true, he blatantly ran scared from Taylor. (Not that Taylor should have wasted his time with him that is)
And I definitely agree that it's only a matter of time before Mora falls at the hands of a decent prospect or Contender.

Honestly that season of the Contender should have been titled "The Journeyman."

Okay since I am new here, I'm sure that I am going to get blasted here, and lose what little rep points I have, but I am going to defend Sergio.

First that video is old, that was done even before The Contender was shot, and he only had 11 or 12 pro-fights at the time, so do you really expect him to do a number on Margarito at that time, come on.

Okay, Sergio won The Contender, so what. He knows, as well as you and I both know, that is not a real title, so why is everyone expecting him to take a big jump into a championship fight right away. He entered that show with only 12 pro-fights under his belt, which means a good portion of his record is the 5 round fights from the show. Plus, compared to most fighters, he is a late starter, since he didn't start boxing until he was 16, plus he has never gone 12 rounds, yet everyone is expecting him to compete at a championship level right away.

He knows, and has admitted, that he was not ready for Taylor. He knows that he has to build his boxing resume, and earn a title shot, just like every other respectable boxer has done. Everyone is saying that Manfredo and Gomez showed some balls by stepping up to world champions. Well they didn't take a step, they took a leap, and look how well that turned out for Manfredo, all he got was a big paycheck to look like a fool, and his career has nose dived ever since, and Gomez is about to go through the same humiliation as Manfredo. But they still have their balls right? I say Sergio was the smart one by not taking a leap before he was ready, and I think that it takes more balls and courage to say no, than to say yes to something you are clearly not ready for, especially since he knew all the crap he would take for it.

Did he say he would like to fight Pavlik? Yes he did, but he didn't say that he wants to fight him right now. Every rising prospect says that they would like to fight the champion, so why is he being blasted for saying what every middleweight fighter is saying? Is he ready for Pavlik? No, and he knows it.

You want to compare him to Pavlik, okay, let's do that. (First, in no way am I criticizing Pavlik, I am a huge fan of Kelly's, he a local guy who's career I have been supporting for sometime now.) Go and look at who Kelly was fighting at the same stage as Sergio's career now, he was fighting the same type of guys, with the same type of records, as the guys that Sergio is fighting now. Kelly did it the smart, and right way, he slowly worked his way up in the level of competition he faced, and that is what Sergio is attempting to do as well. Remember Pavlik did not get that title shot until his 32nd fight, Sergio only has 21 fights, so cut the guy some slack, and let him grow as a fighter. He has skills, but they are skills that he is still developing.

I've actually gotten the chance to get to know Sergio, and he is a very down to earth guy. He is very respectful, and very honest. He will, and has, come right out say that he has sucked in some of his fights. Like the Ayala fight, he didn't walk out of the ring pissed off over the decision, he was pissed off at himself for fighting so poorly, and he even said so in the post fight press conference, and interviews. Trust me, he knows when he doesn't fight well, and nothing pisses him off more than that.

So all I'm trying to say is that Sergio is not the jerk that many of you think he is, and I think he should be given the chance to develop his boxing skills the right way, and not sink his career by jumping into a fight that he is not ready for.

Whilst I admire your loyalty and subsequent arguemnet, I have just on counter question:
Why would he say he would like to fight Taylor and then turn down the fight when offered?

He's Talking a good game and not following up on it...The idea of the Contender was to elevate the status and publicism of a fighter. It was then the responsability of the fighter to use his status to the best of his ability. Do you think Mora used his boost well?
I feel the first thing he should have done after the Contender is fight some twelve rounders....It's his managers choice whether or not to do that.....
So he's confident enough to drop Kelly Pavlik's name but not confident enough to fight a twelve rounder

First off welcome to the board...

Anyone for giving you bad reps for having your own opinion is just a fool. Your entitled to it, and share it with everyone here. However, i would have to disagree with you. At the time JT vs Mora was being talked about, sergio mora went on record as to saying his speed could beat taylor. And when it fell through Sergio mora did not mention that he was not ready. His big hang up was the location of the fight, meaning if the fight was anywhere else but JT's hometown he would of went through with it.

Sergio mora on more than one occasion, wether it be through interview or during FNF commentary has said he was ready for the big names and was ready to be at the top of his division. This was not Recent either, this was around the same time as the JT possible fight.

Now, its understandable if Sergio mora was just trying to sell himself. Its ok. But no one should be surprised when fans, or other fighters call him on it. Thats kinda whats going on now. He said he could do it, he's not doing it (actually the opposite) and people are just pulling his card.

    No surprise right?

Sergio is OLDER than Pavlik, so you can almost throw out the "look at who kelly was fighting at this stage in his career" You're missing the point i think.. Kelly earned everything he has now.. he worked his way from the BOTTOM up.. He was not overhyped.. in fact many had him losing to Miranda pre-fight.. and he was the underdog in the Taylor fight.. Kelly HAD to fight the guys he fought to work his way up to get the big fights.. Sergio won the Contender.. We all have seen what the contender has done for fighters as far as marketability goes, and as far as title shots.. Sergio won the Contender, and he talks a lot of smack, and then runs from the competition... Sergio is ranked top 15 as a middleweight and he hasn't done anything to earn that.. that is why he is "over-rated"..

As far as the guys he is fighting at "this time in his career".. Sergio is fighting NOBODIES (when he could be fighting champions or higher caliber fighters) and what makes it WORSE is that he fought ONCE in 2007 and looked COMPLETELY TERRIBLE and should've lost that fight.. For someone who relies on his speed and reflexes to win fights, he is not getting any younger.. Throw out the "this time in his career" and look at his age, and the style of fighter he is.. Not that he is old, at 27, but he is not getting any younger.. He obviously does not have KO power (or even close) so he needs to make his run when he will be able to.. which was right after the Contender, up until the end of last year.. and now he actually has to fight some people to be recognized considering he waited so long after the Contender.

Sorry man, he is cocky and over-rated.
