I won that fight period.
I won that fight period.
I'm pissed!! Paul is a damned good fighter! He became my favorite over the past two and a half years! He just didn't bring his speed!!! He totally deserved that loss. He remains my favorite, but he has got to get rid of the N'itis and bring his mother F'in game next time! Quintana deserves the win...if he's smart, he'll avoid the real come'ers that want to score an easy belt. Paul...if you're listening...pull your head out, fire your crappy trainers and hire a new F'in cut man! You lost your respect for the game...go get that s&$ back!!!!
Fire his trainers...maybe...his style just isn't suited for his size and attributes. LENGTH is his strength and LENGTH would win him fights, it's the toughest thing for fighters to deal with when it's used correctly.
His cutman did a fine job, it's Paul's defense that kept him bleeding not his cutman...AVOID THE LEFT CROSS and he wouldn't have been cut up so bad.
He just needs to stop wasting his punches and his energy on punches that wouldn't hurt anyone and he needs to have some defense...work on that and he's going to be fine....but to be 164 and fight at 147 and get pushed around is fucking ridiculous
Quintana took the fight to Williams and clearly deserved the win. He punished the punisher with left hands. And Lederman is a fucking idiot. They need somebody else to score fights. Cuz he sucks at it
Lyle...Have you ever seen a Paul Williams fight? Somebody let Paul's ass take a break after winning that belt from Margarito. He looked like he took some F'in AMBIEN before that fight! He's known for 90-120 punches per round...he WAS fast enough to avoid the BOMBs that Quintana was dishing out all night. I'm just shocked by his performance tonight...and like I said...there is no contesting that Williams got his ass beat! You're right, Paul's defense was terrible...but take another look between rounds! That cut man must have been Paul's AMBIEN dealer. WHY!!! Couldn't he get on them f'in cuts right away...where was the advice and reassurance from his corner! At the 9th round...I swore I'd never watch another match again if the gave the fight to Paul! What a shitfest!!!
How can PW admit that he lost, but you can't?
Tonight, the judges got it right.
(I think it was primarily because they didn't have a big name to push.)
Quintana gets a hat's off for his peformance tonight. He was as amazing as in his Joel Julio fight and his added aggression is what pushed him over.
Williams normally throws at least 100 punches per round. His high point tonight (89 punches) is usually his low point in any other fight. Either way you look at it, there was something that kept PW from mounting his normal offense. He even admitted it after the fight. There could have been something wrong with PW, but those clean left crosses didn't help!
Factors:
How many southpaws has PW fought?
How many times has he fought after a 7 month layoff?
How many times did Quintana watch the J.Julio fight and the Tony Margarito v. Williams fight?
Williams won 2 rounds, I think giving him 3 rounds might be a little too generous.
Even Williams corner new that he lost the fight.
Tall Paul will be back. Rematch coming soon. R.I.P Quintana.
Danny G, i normally disagree with you, but i agree with you on this one.. I thought Harold HEAVILY favored the champ, it was pretty obvious.. I don't know what fight he was watching.. Although it was nice to hear max and co. comment on how they had different cards than Harold..
And anyone who says that Quintana didn't win by a UD is clearly biased.. He won that fight, and did enough damage to take the belt from the champ.. PW looked horrible.
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
I hope they keep Lederman just for the nervous giggles but he's a fucking horrible judge. He's horrible, he's like the Eric Crumble of judging. He and Teddy Atlas probably use the expression "great minds think alike" over and over when they're talking to each other.
Still HBO shouldn't get rid of him. Wouldn't be the same without him.
