It depends on the division...the bigger fighters tend to mature later such as cruiser weight or hw..and those guys tend to start later anyway because they play football or something else.....the smaller guys seem to start earlier and have a ton more boxing knowledge and ability.. They need it because of the "speed". So i would say if you're a hw with decent athletic ability you got a shot if you start at 20 or so..if you're a middleweight or lighter you're in trouble because the first thing a fighter loses is speed, power is the last. The bigger divisions rarely have excellent boxers (Chris Byrd excluded) so the emphasis is on power then boxing ability. the speed thing is not a good thing to lose when you're starting to finally get your groove around 25-26....You simply haven't had the experience to start dealing with aging process because you're still learning how to become a great fighter.
