I agree Julio's loss against Quintana is nothing to be ashamed of but I still hold him in second tier status and low second at that...
I also think Ishe is an ass...He is a cocky arrogant guy and does not even do it with some personality...EG Malignaggi, Mayorga...
The thing I always disliked about him and anyother fighter who has had the nerve.....Is th fact he calls himself Sugar......
IMO that name is meant for guys who really are that good...Almost a name of Sacrament in the boxing world.....
The only fighters I have ever considered worthy of that nickname other then the Original Ray Robinson is...Ray Leonard and Shane Mosley......

I really dont like this guy he was arrogant on the contender then got his ass kicked![]()
logically I don't know how you can pick against Julio. Smith pussed out against Powell. Wait till he gets in there with a guy that cracks like Julio does. Plus I been impressed with Julio's improvement and poise lately. He's on his way up. Julio by KO.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I agree with my JFAT alliance partner that Ishe will be the underdog in this. I actually belive he has the tools to beat Julio, I'd say he's a slicker boxer but whether he will be nearly active enough I doubt.
Julio will most likely win this through a greater workrate. I don't think he'll hurt Ishe but I think he'll most of the rounds through aggression even if it's less effective.
I see this fight being similar to the Smith Powell fight quite honestly with some feeling Ishe deserved to win but he just won't let his hands go enough.

Julio by decision.
Ishe coudln't beat Powelland Ishe looked horrible.... I hope Julio schools him.
This fight should be at 154 pounds. I favour Julio but Ishe posesses the tools to beat him. This will tell us how much Julio has improved and if he can use a jab etc. I've never liked Ishe, nothing to do with the Contender but he just has a big mouth for a guy who has done nothing! His claim to fame is writing ludicrously biased reponses in his mailbag at boxing talk.![]()

C'mon Daxx, Julio is still only 23 years old, I wouldn't call the Quintana an exposure, just a setback. Now that "El Indio" is WBO champ its not looking so bad on his resume. He showed that he could deal with a power puncher, now he's up against a counte-puncher, so it's another good test. I like Smith but if this is at welterweight(did I read that right?) I give an edge to Julio, but Smith's best wins were at ww....that was awhile ago, hopefully he's not drained coming in....I also think Smith could have easily got the nod against Powell, but that was a crappy performance IMO. He waits to counter wayyyy too much.

Julio by KO, i'll see y'all later, this thread after the fight.

I hope Ishe gets brutally KO'd

Well Julio isn't exactly the most active of fighters and I was surprised when he KO'd K9 because that fight looked like it was dragging to decision. Julio has power but he's still a bit raw. Hopefully he uses the jab because he didn't use it against Bundrage the same way he did against Lucero. Against Lucero, when training with Mark Breland and Pernell Whitaker, he had a very fluid jab, he was very balanced when he threw it and it added an entire outside element to his game.
Against Bundrage, no Breland or Whitaker, he had a jab but it wasn't the same jab. He was off balance with it a lot and also threw it almost squared up to Bundrage from the outside. It was lazy and he wasn't trying to work off of it. I wish he would have given them more time as I think he would have become a much better fighter. I was expecting him to come out great versus Bundrage and he lulled along until the KO.
So it's a bit hard for me to think that he is going to be any better then he was for the Bundrage fight and that just isn't exciting really to me. While he's improved greatly since the Quintana beat down, he doesn't make as many mistakes now as he did then like lunging in with the right hand all the time. But he is still there to be outboxed because he really doesn't have a game from the outside, he's predictable and not that fast. He has potential still though especially if he has a jab. Maybe no boxer in the game right now would benefit from a jab more then Joel Julio. He's wasting that power, power that ranks at the top of 154.
But I have no expectations. Ishe Smith has talent to but simply does not work enough. This is certainly his last chance if he doesn't want to show up fighting 6 rounders to get his name back up. He'll go the Joey Spina route because his style is garbage to watch and no one wants to endure 10 rounds of that if they don't have to. Surely a lot of people will be rooting for a Julio KO by about round 5 if things go the way I think they will. This is an ugly one.

No Delays,No Baseball.Do ya think they'll play the lame Contender theme song for Smiths ring walk.Nothing personal,But I hope Ishe gets folded up and put on the curb.Julio has enough to Convince Smith that yes....He really does not want to be in there down the stretch.
I just don't want to see a BS fight. Hopefully Julio will bring it, and Smith will fight back.
Julio by decision, hopefully by KO.
