    Unanimous decision

    116-112

    Pavlik wins it!

Doug Fischer had it identically to me 6-5-1 to Kelly Pavlik,

Not bad for my first rbr, at least I know I can score a fight with reasonable accuracy.

Taylor still looked good though, he certainly redeemed himself in my eyes and has a lot to offer at 168 especially when Calzaghe moves up.

Can anybody say Taylor vs Kessler?

Apparently Pavlik is gearing up to fight Felix Trinidad at 160 next.

Not sure what I make of that. Can't see Trinidad having any chance of winning that fight although he could possibly go the 12 rounds if he boxes the way he did against Jones Jr

First off, good job Bilbo, secondly, FOTY candidate? Third JT has nothing to be ashamed of. Fourth the fight was real close, closer than that one judge for sure. Lastly Lampley was once again wrong in saying JT would be over if he lost, I dont think so.

Cheers No Contest. I didn't think it was a particularly exciting fight though to be honest. Close and competitive for sure but hardly a barn burner.

It was similar to Calzaghe Kessler, a decent solid fight but no real explosive action.

They were both solid tonight, I'm surprised one didnt hit the canvas. They were alot more tenative than the first fight for sure mainly IMO because Taylor made Pavlik be careful by tagging him with nice counters in the beginning rounds. I'm sure Pavliks shots were doing more but I think JT was landing cleaner. I would have to watch it completely sober to give an honest score though, I'll watch the replay next weekend I guess...What were the punch stats btw?

In my view it was a real mistake for Taylor to take the rematch without a fight prior to it. Taylor was well aware of Pavliks power from the first fight and fought like a scared kitten because of it. He kept his distance too much and wasnt prepared to take risks that he should have done.

As well as this Pavlik actually boxed better this time. His left jab dominated the contest, and he won a lot of rounds 6-11 because of it. The first fight should have been won by Taylor in my view after the second round and he was up on the score cards in my view. I expected Taylor to dominate this fight as a result and maybe win on points and I thought it would take another Pavlik knockout to win.

I am disappointed in the amount of effort Taylor put in and his lack of risk taking. He actually had some success when he bothered himself to attack Pavliks body. Yet he failed to maintain this.

Neither fighter ever got in serious trouble. Taylor was not that badly hurt in the 11th on the ropes.

Pavlik good fighter, great technique. Hope he doesnt bother with the circus fight with Trinidad, should try to unite middleweight. If he bothers fighting Calzaghe, he will get boxed apart.

Good work Bilbo, that was pretty damn good, especially considering it was your 1st one.

Oh sure, I know and I do not deny that.

However, when you see this fight you will see that while it was close, Taylor could have conceivably taken every one of the first 8 rounds. They were close rounds, none were a landslide either way, but Pavlik looked sluggish and Taylor looked sharp and fast.
