But we are not as harsh with law in Australia as it is over there for you.
If its a major contract then I would of course do that and get a 50% depoist so Im never out of pocket.
For one or two day jobs using their materials , we give quotations for the labour, they are excepted either on site or over the phone, the work is done and your paid.
Our courts except that you are not going to just turn up to a house and do work for free, so it goes without saying that someone has given the go ahead for it occur.
Trouble can only occur for the trades person if the workmanship is faulty which they can never prove against me,Im the best there is.
IT costs a day off work, to pursue these things legally so you end up losing the days work anyway.
Pursing small matters illeagally seems the cheaper way out so long as your not over the top and lose your freedom from being angry or stupid.
I think alot of small annoyances get them to shift their gears.
Can be fun too as it takes the stress out a bit.
