I really liked this film and agree that Emille Hirsch did a really good job as McCandless.
What is funny to me is the reaction of people of different ages to this film. Guys round our age (I'm 29) love it. Don't know about you, but I've got no kids - so that freedom angle I really get - fuck it all, take a chance etc.
ALL of my older friends I have spoken too (40+, all parents) HATE this movie - they can't believe the kid was so selfish and can't believe how he just left his sister who idolized him.
