And Cotto is correct![]()

I read the article in the local newspaper. The thing is... this isn't like Cotto. He normally doesn't trash-talk anybody or claims that anyone is avoiding him. He must be really frustrated by Floyd choosing a (boring) rematch with Oscar rather than a fight with Cotto. And I can't say I blame him.
("Him" being Cotto for being frustrated and Floyd for ducking him.)

I wouldn't doubt that PBF is avoiding Cotto. Miguel is a murderous puncher probably a natural 154 pounder or even a middleweight but his hard training has his at welterweight and he's scared of NO ONE....he'll throw hands with anyone and get the better of them!
I think if he fights Shane Mosley again he might KO Shane...not because he hurt him bad in the last fight but because fighting Miguel takes so much out of a fighter physically.
Personally I think Floyd is waiting for Miguel to lose to say "See I knew he wasn't worth fighting"
Miguel Cotto is the Ivan Drago to Floyd's Apollo Creed

This is just Cotto playing the game. Cotto's no dummy. He knows that he and Floyd both have a role to play over the next year or so.
Cotto's going to call Floyd out now for ducking him... and Floyd's going to blow him off... and more and more people will feel like the fight needs to happen.
Then Cotto will beat Gomez... and after the fight he'll call out FLoyd... and the HBO commentators will call out Floyd... and more and more people will want to see the fight happen.
Then Cotto will beat Margarito... and after the fight he'll call out Floyd... and the HBO guys will call out Floyd... and more and more people will want to see the fight.
And then Floyd will beat Oscar.... and the HBO guys will say over and over that he needs to fight Cotto... and more and more people will be itching to see the fight.
And then, Floyd and Cotto will sign on the dotted line, and people will have been waiting so long to see it and be so anxious, that they'll jump at the chance to pay $54.95 to watch it on PPV, and Floyd and Cotto will both make themselves a big pile of money.
That's how it's done.

I guess Floyd needs a 6-9 month layoff now before he fights...must be getting old. He could have fought Cotto around the same time Oscar is fighting his tune-up. He just should have made the contract with Oscar a guarenteed fight win or lose against Cotto....

Cotto has never called anyone. Arum makes fights and he keeps wining. in fact a lot of people want it Cotto. I remember at 140 Hatton want it no part of Cotto.
So since Cotto is so reserved this is his way of saying it.!!!
check out where it says " I WILL FIGHT ANY BIG NAME" meaning the ones that were left Floyd and Oscar

It can't be said any better than this. This is exactly what will happen if Cotto stays focused and beats the guys he should beat. Even though it's not really in his natural Cotto will need to run his mouth a little to help build pressure and hype. That's the business end of the sport.
I pretty much agree with all you are saying. I would also add that Floyd probably hopes someone like Margarito will defeat Cotto so that Floyd will say "I told you so..." I don't have a problem with waiting, as you indicate in your post, but I almost feel like I am being cheated in some way by a second fight between Floyd and Oscar.
You have a point with that. Floyd only has so many fights left, and it sucks to see him waste one on a pointless rematch. It makes $$$$ to him, but it screws over the hardcore fans.
I would rather see him fight Cotto, now, too, but it is what it is. We had to wait for the Hatton fight to build and now we'll need to wait for the Cotto fight.

If Mayweather retires without facing Cotto there's no way he can go down an ATG.
