I'd say get some good head gear.. Although it might take away from the 'authenticity' of your pro fight in the backyard, you can still have fun and all the tactics are still involved...
Try not to go any lower than 16oz to at least make them a little more 'pillowy' if you can call boxing gloves that..
I suppose maybe different material gloves could have different affects when they hit your skin, but I doubt any gloves will advertise that they are better or worse than other gloves at "cutting your opponents face".. You could try to look up and see if anyone has done a study, but generally all pro fights are proper leather gloves anyway so I doubt you'll find any sort of study...
If your backyard fights are getting to the point of cutting peoples eye's and shit, then you should save that type of thing for the ring... Getting a broken bloody nose would ruin just about any PPV superfight for me...
I'm really not a fan of any sort of backyard fighting or things like that.. I've always been 100% with Donny on that whole subject... You can have a bit of fun with your friends but as soon as your on a forum asking which gloves are less likely to damage your buddies face, then it's eventually probably going to end in tears for someone..
But to each their own,,, and I know people who totally get off on backyard fighting.. Just not for me..
What ever happened to warming up for a big fight with a few beers and a pizza?
