Calzaghe would beat pavlik as taylor could have beat him but didnt do enough. But the thing is joe does more than enough, have you seen the amount of punches he throws.
Wouldn't rule pavlik out though and it would be a great fight.

I've said this before and I'm confident enough to believe it, Kelly Pavlik will beat 99% of the guys that stand and trade with him. However, he fights like his feet are in quicksand and needs to mix it up more, rather than just jab,jab right hand. He has other punches for sure but in his last 2 fights, has used only those punches. Against a crafty, experienced and ultra fast fighter like JC,he loses. Southpaw, awkward but intelligent,JC beats Kelly for me(Kelly beats everyone at 160 imo though)

Joe would box circles around Pavlik. Especially if he fights the same way he fought JT in his last fight where all we saw was jab, jab, right. Jab, jab, right.

I agree with Gamo, anyone who decides to trade with Pavlik would get taken out quick-like...

For what it's worth I agree. If Pavlik thought he had to use his brain against Taylor last week; then he better eat his Wheaties before a fight with Calzaghe because his brain will overload trying to box with Joe. I think Joe has a good chin, but he's not dumb enough to trade with Kelly, and will, like Mick said, box circles, squares and rectangles around PavMan. Would be a helluva fight to have happen though.

Im just not sold on Pavlik yet. As people have said hes exciting to watch and yeh he seems a likeable guy but from what Ive seen so far he doesnt seem anything too amazing. I doubt we'll see anyone knock him out anytime soon but anyone with a decent workrate could outbox him over 12 just so long as they've got the chin to take a few on the way.
I've noticed there hasnt been much call for it yet and Im actually surprised but I would fancy Arthur Abraham over Pavlik if they were to fight. Anyone with me on that?

beerjelly problem with that is there isn't many boxers around that are capable of outboxing pavlik a whole 12 rounds sooner or later punches would land, there is even fewer with a chin good enough to withstand the punishment he dishes out I think. Abraham from what I have seen of him is to tenative for someone like pavlik and would probably get kod or tkod in the later rounds, but who knows the guy fought 7 rounds with a broken jaw so we know he's tough as nails. Certainly would be a good fight and I'd much rather see that than the proposed duddy fight. Do lean towards calzaghe outboxing him over 12 rounds though if it ever happened.
