Mora really is doing little more in there than getting hit and missing Greene, and a bundle of these rounds could have gone down as 10-8 rounds when Mora goes down. Joe Greene is circling a little, looks like he fancies putting in a 12-round points win, even though he could knock him out if he wanted to. Personally, even though Greene has lost a point, he'll win this by 15 or 16 unless there's a big turnaround.
Mora's ear is also getting pretty big and swollen, and Greene is just pounding away for round after round.
Bit of a judging disaster in there at the end of the tenth, as Mora slumps to his corner and doesn't get up. The ref is talking to the doctor, who is telling the corner to pull him out, which the corner won't do. Greene gets up for the 11th, and Mora is still on the floor, never made it to his chair, and eventually the ref gets the message and calls this off....probably three or four rounds too late really.
Next up is "Ireland's" John Duddy.
I don't know about any other Wlad fans, but I am still a little nervous about Sultan being a southpaw......I really worry about that but mainly that's because of Corrie Sanders, I think Wlad can and SHOULD KO Sultan but I always get nervous before his fights.
GO WLAD!
John Duddy getting a big reception in there, and his opponent looks nervous, and also a little short facing up to him.
Round 1:
Duddy coming out on fire with some good hooks and throwing plenty early on. Body shots are the Duddy staple here so far, but Smichet with three big right hooks has Duddy reeling. The Duddy guard is nowhere, and Smichet is landing at will here and putting Duddy in real bother. 5 left and right wide hooks land flush on Duddy, who is just not moving back. Duddy with some shots of his own, but his oppnent is landing amazing shots here, anda Duddy's cut under the left eye. He's shipping shots like an amateur versus an old pro.
Duddy takes huge punishment.
Smichet 10-9, and there might be a case for calling it 10-8 Duddy was in so much trouble.
WOW what a first round![]()
Roiund 2
Duddy coming out active, and with a good left hook, then working the body. He's got no defence whatsoever, and personally, Pavlik would eat this guy for breakfast. Smichet is landing time and again, who lands body shots, then right hooks. Duddy needs to box, and get his chin out of the way of Smichet's fists. MSG seems eerily quiet as they all wait to see Duddy put in some more good work. Right hook from Smichet, then a good left from Duddy. Duddy not defending, but dodges two hooks, then lands a couple to the body. Good leading left hook from Smichet, then Duddy with a short right, but Duddy lands again, then dodges some jabs. Big right hook again, and Duddy is in yet another war.
Smichet 20-18. Glad I didn't put anything on Duddy so far.
Good opening round, but where is JD's defence?
more of the same in round 2.
Duddy blocking punches with his face.
.....well he's obviously an Irish fighter
That how he wears his opponents down they get tired of hitting him in the face and he starts to take over....I hope
Damn shame HBO seems to have lost Interest & belief in airing undercard bouts for the most part. Would have liked to have seen Greene and Duddy.Sounds like Greene Is developing nicely
good 1st round but Duddy is nowhere near ready for Pavlik . His defence is awful .
