nice post Daxx i was well on Wlads case last night partly dissapointed and mainly drunk but the main reason for me is that he can do better.

The heavy's have been a forgotten part of boxing and last night was a great showcase for them and it failed IMO... but this will not stop me being a stallion in bed

No matter how you slice it, Klitschko’s fight last night vs Ibragimov was downright DULL, Wlad’s patty-cake tactics were amateurish, and I think I would have gotten a bigger kick out of Hillary and Obama slapping the sh*t out of each other on national TV.

I understand Wlad’s fans will be quick to jump to his defense. Wlad did what he had to do… Ibragimov was not to be underestimated… blah, blah, blah.

But the truth is, when you compare this fight with all the great fights we’ve had the past year or so, it falls wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-ay short. And the sad part about it is, it happens to be the division that most needs the good fights. Everyone knows the heavies are the most popular division in boxing among the casual fans. And if this is the kind of spectacle they’re going to get… well, let’s just say they won’t be burning up the phone lines to buy PPV boxing events any time soon, if you know what I mean.

So call me a Wlad hater if you want (I’m not), but facts are facts. And the fact is, my thoughts about the fight can be summed up as follows:

In the future if Wladimir seeks to model the career of Lennox Lewis he had better take on a dangerous fighter and just whip the shit out of them...it can't be Sam Peter because Sam has already been dealt with by Wlad.

Alexander Povetkin right now seems to me to be the Andrew Golota of this era. He's a good solid fighter but he is well lacking in certain areas all of which Wladimir can expose. Wladimir needs a KO in the first 5 rounds of the fight and it needs to be on regular HBO and it needs to be either in Las Vegas or the Garden.

Wladimir needs what a Shannon Briggs or Evander Holyfield or Michael Grant were to Lennox Lewis' career and he needs to have exciting KO wins.

But you just can't plan how to fight a southpaw until you get in the ring with them...any little thing they do different than your sparring partners can really screw you up.

I honestly think they figured Sultan would run away from Wladimir and Wlad could chase him down and blast him out....Sultan fighting back didn't seem to fit well with the gameplan at all.

If he continues to fight like he's terrified to get hit and just grabs his opponent every time they start to throw at him in future fights can we all admit he's a joke with a good enough jab to beat the shower of rubbish that currently contests the heavyweight division, or are we just going to continue making excuses for him ?

Who wouldn't tie up a smaller opponent when they get on the inside Not doing that is just plain STUPID.

Wladimir is more than just a jab and what he did is nothing different than any other SMART heavyweight boxer has done in the past...Ali, Holmes, Lewis.

No that fight wasn't fun to watch but it's not going to be his last fight...it's only 1 of 6 fights he has had that has gone the distance.

Every fan wanted to see a knockout. Wlad wanted to see a win. Simple. We as fan like the fireworks, Wlad liked the victory.
Last night, being a unification fight, Wlad just wanted to do it in the safest way possible without any chance of 'mistake-crack-wlads-down'.

Now he has them, and can call himself the Unified champ, I believe his defence fights will be destructive.

Do I believe he and Vitali will become the 2-headed heavyweight champion like that reporter said? Hell yes.

Where was their an excuse being made? Can't say I can see one anywhere other then the fact the guy can't have everyfight be a highlite reel KO...Not an excuse a fact.....

Funny thing is when Lennox Lewis was Champion (AND I AM IN NO WAY COMPARING WLAD TO LEWIS HE HAS A LONG WAYY TO GO BEFORE EVEN BEING MENTIONED IN THE SAME SENTENCE ACCOMPLISHMENT WISE) No matter what Lennox did he was blasted for it....

Lewis could do no right...Not by tyhe press not by a large majority of boxing fans....

Funny thing is not he is considered one of the top 5 ATG heavyweights

There are plenty of people explaining how he really would have KO'd Ibragimov except ........................ but all I want to know is if he continues to fight the same way in future will people be still coming up with explanations ?

..Yeah we will excuse after excuse after excuse.....Tell you what too bad this was not the mid 90's because he could have dropped 85lbs and KO'd that chump in your avatar in exciting fashion.....

Have some bad rep on me due to the fact you posted in about 3 threads including the Duddy one like an idiot.....

....KirkLand, do yourself a favor and look at his record 50 wins, 44 KO's.....this is one of 6 fights that went the distance.....I guess that's too many for you considering it's the EXACT same KO percentage that Tyson has.

The fight the other night was the exception and not the norm

The group of us that's bitching about the Klitschko fight are not necessarily Wlad haters. We have just gotten spoiled with the Cotto-Mosley's, the Pavlik-Taylor's, etc. We all have something in common... we're all boxing fans. But in order to get more new fans to our great sport, we need more of the great fights and less of the Klitschko-Sultan patty-cake contests.

I understand that TitoFan, but there are certain styles that simply do not mesh.

Put Wladimir in with an offensive minded orthodox fighter that can take a punch......try to find that guy and tell us when you do.

As good as Wladimir's jab is right now, it's hard to see anyone really testing him through the duration of a fight.

Wladimir does need to put the total offense on display in his next fight...that double right hook he landed on Sultan was about the best part of that lackluster fight.
