That's the "European way" of doing entrances, so to speak. If you ever watch fights in Europe, especially in places like Germany, it's pretty normal to announce the fighter and have him walk to the ring by himself, with his cornermen waiting in the ring.

I like the traditional entrances better. It doesn't feel "right" to me unless the fighter walks in surrounded by his trainer/cornermen.
