While that is true, I know I for one don't want that to become a habit with him.

But he must be doing something right, he's getting the same flack Lennox Lewis got when he first became champion

Lyle Wlad Klitchsko done awful IMO, he is a disgrace if he's scared to throw a right hand all night

He looked so panicky in there that's bad for boxing.

He wasn't "panicky" he was measured in his approach which is why he won the fight. He was a little too measured but hey it beats him having to pick himself off the canvas.

You jump on a southpaw with power and maybe this is what you get...

Southpaws cause more trouble in fights than excitement

IMO he was panicky, he was scared to shit to get countered and I mean SCARED TO SHIT and so just few a few jabs now and again .

Well fine...some fighters don't like to fight certain styles....the fact Wladimir was able to win as big as he did is a testament to how much he has learned when fighting a counterpunching southpaw.

Now had Sultan been a little taller maybe it would have helped Sultan's offense or maybe Sultan wouldn't have been able to hide from that right hand so well. Sultan was in a crouch the entire fight, waiting to catch Wlad off balance.

It wasn't Wlad's best effort but hell his whole career isn't defined by this fight vs Sultan.

I thought it was boring as shit but... I thought Wlad did a good job not allowing him in... I didn't like that slapping bull cuz I thought it'd wear out his jab but it didn't... I thought that jabbing would have been a better course to take then slapping away Sultan's hand but, hey... It worked.

Overall Wlad pitched a virtual shutout... Can't really hate on a guy for doing that...

I mean really.... C'mon. why throw the right and put yourself in danger when you can bust a guy up from range.

Maybe he was scared to throw it but hell, he boxed the socks off Ibrag.

Look at it from Wlad's perspective the road was too long and hard to throw it all away on an easy win. He won with the jab and that also disappointed Sultan because he was wanting Wlad to overextend himself but Wlad didn't fall for it,think about it, Sultan came into the ring with the WBO belt 22 wins 17 kos everyone keeps overlooking Sultan and he is not one to overlook.I say Sultan is alot better than anyone wants to admit and he will make other top fighters look the same way and win at the same time.

Biggest fight of his life, fans cheering him on,practically pleading with him to give them something to cheer about,an opponent beaten within the first 3 rounds and what does he do,jab, hold like a bitch whenever Sultan comes ANYWHERE NEAR him and doesn't throw anything bar the jab for 95% of the fight. It was a golden chance for the HW to get some respect, especially Wladimir. Sultan was beaten i round 3 already. Shocking fight, rerrible performance. Sure,he won but this was a chance to really get the HW back on the map and give the fans something to cheer for.

The Sweet Science site put up an interview with Larry Merchant about this fight, where he basically said Ibragimov, not Wlad, should be getting the (dis)credit for the nature of the fight.

I agree with his take. I mean, Ibragimov wasn't trying to win the fight at all. He was in there solely to see if Klitschko would miss wide so he could land a huge haymaker.

Why would Wlad do the ONE thing that could lose him the fight? Maybe Wlad is too smart for his own good, but as I'm sure others have said, as bad as he looked, he would've looked a lot worse sprawled out on the canvas.

Very true, I like your post you've done well.

"Styles Make Fights" and Sultan tried jumping on Wlad and he tried waiting on a missed right cross....nothing worked for him and it made for a bad looking fight. Had Wladimir looked to land the left hook it might have been a better more exciting outcome.

This isn't the first or the last time Wladimir will get crap because of his performance.....but it is eriely similar to the crap Lennox Lewis had to go through but one signature KO (a la Lewis-Rahman II) would put Wladimir right with the boxing world
