Before every big fight I often state that it's wrong to say that one guy has no chance.
But in reality I see Alfonso having little to no effect on the train that is about to hit him.

I'll be rooting for Gomez.
He's up against it alright but he's got a chance.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

I don't know what it is you DON'T see in Gomez, but if he fights half the fight he did against Gatti, he could stand a good chance to outbox cotto.
Why is no one acknowledging the fact that Gomez is MUCH bigger than Cotto? So what if he doesn't hit hard... accumulation could have an effect.
What if he can take more licks than Quintana? Will he pose a threat then? I just think it is amazing that he went 10 with Ben Tackie and KO'd Gatti, but no one thinks he has a chance. As big as Cotto is, he is still smaller than alot of WW's.
Love Cotto, but would pay money to see a good upset!

Oh, BTW, Gomez has never been dominated or stopped, not even when he fought Middleweights (who are now fighting at SMwt). So what makes you all so sure Cotto will steamroll him?

Gomez has a good chance, hes big, fought bigger men, has good resiliance and decent boxing ability.
I dont think hes gonna get blown away for a second, he handled Tackie and fought with him at a good pace, he didnt dance around.
Cotto doesnt throw an awfull lot of punches, he doesnt have a busy style, he is effective but Gomez would at leat be able to outwork him if nothing else, also Cotto has been hurt by smaller men, in fact has he fought a genuine welter that didnt start in lower weights? Gomez may surprise Cotto with his strength.
As long as Gomez pushes the fight and doesnt let Cotto dictate the pace he will do well

Yes, Cotto is a hard hitter, but Gomez already fought Jesse Brinkley, who is a hellacious puncher at SuMWt--who just KO'd Otis Griffin. So he can take the punch of a natural SuMwt, but he can't take Cotto's punch?
You all are talking like Gomez is the one who is coming up in weight. Remember that besides Gatti, this might be one of Gomez' SMALLEST opponents.
I am not saying it is all Gomez, but this is a much better (and closely fitted) matchup than most are giving him credit for.
On the other side of the fence, I give Cotto credit for stepping up in size, as I am sure he knows he will have to face bigger boxers next (Margarito, Cintron, Williams, etc.). I just want to see who gets derailed in this bout.
